Fast Attack/Recon, Tracked. That's what it is. I was looking at my Shelf of Doom and realized I had another idea, so using the hull of a Tamiya Bradley I lost interest in years ago, a set of SpadeAce Leo 1 tracks I got at Winterblitz and some M48 road wheels, I got started. I know it's wacky, but it's fun. I wanted to do something low and fast looking. IMG_4188 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I cut the flotation screens off the upper hull, shortened the rear and made up some idler mounts from junk HobbyBoss parts. The sprockets are from the Takom Bergepanzer I pillaged for the Bulldog build, probably the only time a set of SpadeAce tracks fit a sprocket without mods. Return rollers are from a scrapped Tamiya Pershing. IMG_4189 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I'll do an upper front glacis with access hatches for the final drives and a small access door in the hull rear, possibly cutting down the upper hull some more. I'll probably use the Bradley turret.

Thanks y'all! It's all fun. I ended up doing away with the return tollers, it looked like a big AMX-13. I got the front final drive cover in, parts from a Trumpeter JGSDF Type 87 ASPAAG hull, and plastic stock in the back, just a rough job so far. IMG_4193 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_4192 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I'm pondering turrets now: do I use the Bradley turret with a bigger gun (would that work) or something else entirely? I thing the Bradley turret with a hyper velocity 60mm gun would be cool.... or something with a 105 and a BIG muzzle brake.

I've started mocking up a turret... IMG_4202 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I took the easy way and used the Bradley turret to start.

I just may be nuts.... mantlet applique armor done, secondary and tertiary armament added, basket on hull rear. IMG_4211 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_4209 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_4208 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I seriously doubt the turret has room for a 105 and a chain gun but it sure looks mean.

Soooooo cool. I hope you've taken out a patent, otherwise the U. S. Army may pinch your idea. Bookmarked cos I'm loving this.
