Some progress. . . and a question. (the only dumb question is the one you don't ask, right?) How does one fade the paint as these would have been? Do you add a white or gray to the base color? Do you make a white/gray wash and over spray? I saw this question and thought I'd add my . Lyle I usually come back over my paint work with some clear flat with a wee amount of white added to it and usually spray it on on a test subject first before committing to the real project at hand. These guys might have a different approach but that's the way I typically do it. This is a cool project btw.

Looking real good!!! I enjoyed my first ever Tamiya 1/48 armor kit recently and I can see why many of modelers like those too. Thanks! Most Tamiya kits make me seem better than I am! This would be a nice addition to dioramas.

To answer your question, I would have selectively sprayed some areas with the base colour mixed with some white and then with it slightly lighter again. Love the weathering.

When done it really increases the depth of the work. Mike Rinaldi has done a really good write-up over at the old ML site, here's the link: www.missing-lynx.com/articles/other/modulationmr_1.htmlThis might be of some help to ya, Lyle.
