Long ago I made a pact with myself to have no more than 25 unbuilt models at a time, this is one thing I've been able to live up to. Makes it much easier to decide what to start next Same thing here,I'm at 36 kits, that's plenty,I don't see the point,I mean there are a couple of kits I wouldn't mind having, but I'll wait till I whittle the stash down,I mean who's kidding who,I build about 6 a year and I'm 66,so why keep stockpiling

It appears that I am just not doing this hobby correctly!!! This is just unbelievable. What passed as my local hobby shop had nowhere near the amount of stuff any of you guys have. Mind blowing stuff!

But after the first few times I couldn't get a kit that used to be readily available because it went out of production and immediately went to Ebay prices, I started "preemptively collecting". That sounds good, right? Hahaha I'm quoting this the next time I get " you bought another one "

Marc, I gotta ask. Do you have the number of kits here in this place of plastic heaven?

That sounds good, right? Hahaha I'm quoting this the next time I get " you bought another one " Seriously, it happens all the time now. I never used to buy, for example, Wingnut Wings kits, because hey. It's Wingnut Wings! They aren't going to go out of business! Companies just don't keep kits in production forever any more.

I have heard fabulous tales of such a place. Hahaha...it's real! I have the guys in my IRL model club down in my basement to build once or twice a month. The stash provides a nice backdrop.

My wife would NOT be happy about that. God bless you Marc. My (now ex) wife was part of the problem. She'd come to a show with me and say "the kits here are SO much cheaper. Why aren't you buying them if they're such a steal?". She loved my modeling. Knew right where I was at all times. Heck, she helped me finish the basement to house the benches, spray booth, and stash!

Marc, I gotta ask. Do you have the number of kits here in this place of plastic heaven? I do, actually. Exactly! All of this is meticulously catalogued. The first time I bought an (unintentional) duplicate of a kit I started logging kits, aftermarket, decals, everything. It's a pretty massive Excel spreadsheet.

See, what we REALLY need is to arrange physical meetings at, say model shows, so that we can make exchanges. Plus we get to meet each other. Modeler's Social Club. I have so much stuff that I'd be more than willing to part with some of it, especially if they were to go to someone on the forum, not some Evilbay scalper looking for a quick buck. I like this idea! I'm in the same boat. I may throw up some pics of sale-pile things just to people in the forum. Let's discuss!

I have all of mine in a sortable Access database which is on my website. I can look it up on my phone when I am in danger of acquiring more.

If you ever decide you want to part with your "extra" Hornisse, we should talk! I have a few things I could trade in the Ma.K and Gundam field... Dupes, let's make a deal... we will let you buy those cool kits after you post pics of your stash? So do we have a deal? LOL So....pics are up. When do I get to start acquiring some of these cool kits??

Totally! I have the Excel file open in a tab in my phone at all times. I refer to it daily! Sometimes a lot more than once.

I'm pretty torn here. One of the Tamiya 'Bolts would be fab to see built...but there's the MG Astray red frame! Oooooh, and a Hasegawa Pete!

I'm voting for the one of the big AMT kits next - either the wrecker, dump truck, or cement truck!

I love this thread. What a great idea. And what great collections. I, too, am of the school of if I want to build it and I see it available for a good price then I better buy it. Nothing at the scale of some of you fine folks though. I have given up on saying “i’m not buying anything else” …and I think my wife is resigned to this fact by now too.

When do I get to start acquiring some of these cool kits?? Oh my Dupes… I don’t know what to say about your stash. Is that why your handle is Dupes? Because you have multiples of the same kit? Oh dear, oh dear… I’ll have to do a deep dive to see if the SF3D Hornisse kits are two complete kits. I recall buying one second hand that had a junked PKA suit. But if the two kits in the photo are complete, I would not mind parting with one. I’ll let you know this week.

The 1/16 King Tiger is the obvious answer here! Mmmmmm, not yet. There's a story behind the King Tiger. You wouldn't want it..horribke kit, big, heavy, have pre assembled aftermarket metal tracks, 2 muzzle brake ootions, full interior, absolutely HORRIBLE ......although I do unfortunalety fall for strong Jedi mind tricks.....and rare kits....from time to time
