Hey all. Does anyone use Mt Surfacer 1500 for priming? Just wanted to know how much to thin it to spray through an airbrush.

Hey all. Does anyone use Mt Surfacer 1500 for priming? Just wanted to know how much to thin it to spray through an airbrush. I've used it in the past, and I thinned it 50/50 with MEK. These days I'm using decanted Tamiya Surface Primer and thin it the same way.

I've actually sprayed it with no thinner. It leaves a hint of texture. I've also use less thinner then 50/50 and still got a smooth finish. And, last but not least, there's been several times where I had to use more thinner to get it to flow.
Start at 50/50 and adjust from there.
Thinned with mr level thinner 400/250(I think) or straight lacquer thinner from a hardware store.

I use it for everything I build. Love it mixed 1:1 with Leveling thinner and sprays ultra smooth and thin through my Iwata HP at around 20-25 psi

In my opinion it is the most bullet proof primer you can use. Mix it at least 50/50 with mr leveling thinner. Spray’s beautifully
