This will be my interpretation of a Tomcat.

Painted one of the fuel drop tanks, even though I’m doing a “low vis” paint scheme I put the red shark mouths on because they look way cooler than grey ones haha.

Weathering is all watercolor pencils.

I painted this wing,
so this is just the base colors with no weathering yet, the grease streaks are done with watercolor pencils
everything is also sealed with a flat lacquer and ready for the weathering steps with oil paints and more watercolor pencils.

Those wing sweep movement marks are excellent! I'm gonna have to look for some of those watercolor pencils at the local art stores.

Yeah they are becoming a favourite tool of mine. I just use some cheap ones, I have a few of the AK ones also and see no difference in them other than a few more convenient color choices but (the metallic) ones they have don’t really do anything with water though a bit disappointing.
I apply them wet with a brush and manipulate them with a damp brush or Qtip and they do get darker when you clearcoat them

I have the AK Weathering pencils. I'd love to see how you weather with them like on this Tomcat.

Quick video I think shows the metallic finish better than my pictures , I made them darkish metal tones since that’s how most f-14’s seem to look

I’m doing the whole thing light ghost gray. Using the weathering to change the colors here and there.

I’ve looked at tons of photos and these planes in 3 gray schemes all seem to look like one color to me, plus I’m just making a fictional plane 😂

Front landing gear painted, I punched out 0.6mm soda can aluminum and painted them the green/orange/red for the little lights

The paint, weathering and detailing are stellar! I really like the look you achieved with the tires. They have a real rubber looking appearance
