Thank you sir Awright this is the dangerous time; first color of the three toned pattern On this one I can just lay down the color (Tammy Flat Earth and Flat Yellow mix) and not worry about overspray since none of the upper surface will be black. I'll go back later with a finer tip and fill in the thin spots, perhaps I'll mist in a little fading as well. The next color will be Tammy OD Green and here's where I've not yet decided on a hard edge or soft edge, largely 'cause I'm undecided as to how to go about masking a hard edge. In any event I'll let it cure up some before the next color goes on

Thanks blokes So after an hour and a half with the tape, knife and scissors that went absolutely nowhere I got annoyed and freehanded the OD green and the OD in two seperate sessions Have to let it cure and then deal with the overspray, then mask off the nacells and redo the flat black I got all three colors on. I may have to do fading coats on both of the last parts of the pattern as there's not as much contrast between them as I thought there would be. We'll see how it looks in the morning

I like that people still build the old kits instead of just new releases. It gives me hope for the stuff in my stash (hah!). Excellent paint.

For a freehanded camo job this looks outstanding! That's what I was going to say exactly. Stencils.....we don't need no stinking stencils.

Thanks blokes Much to my surprise, not all the decals disintigrated, just the smaller ones. Given their age I did not expect to be able to use any of them, and I'm not gonna worry about those that I could not as these did not carry much in the way of markings. Decals (such as they are), shiny coat, and the beginnings of a Dark Dirt Flory's wash. I was not delicate enough with the airbrush to get the black undercoat to show thru As a side note, the general rule of thumb seems to be 15-20 psi on the regulator while airbrushing. If I do this the overspray will be extensive; it was when I did this on the first painting cycle here. When I went to clean it up I thinned the paint same as I'd done before but added more retarder and boosted the regulator up to 40 psi which resulted in better atomization of the paint with much less overspray. Only trouble with this is you have to hold the model lest you blow it off whatever you've got it sitting on

Thanks gents 'Tis done Acrylic clear semi gloss over the decals and Flory's to seal it up. The landing gear is very spindly and rickety so I'll not be moving this one around much. For an ancient model I thought this one was pretty good; I've built much newer kits that were much worse, and I'm quite happy I did not put much effort into that invisible interior

That was quick! Looks really really good. I will always love these old school kits even with their basic detail they can come up really nice with a good paint job.

Thank you gents, I'm off work for a time and the weather's not good so this is mostly all I do all day It helps that there isn't a 50 piece interior (including the head in the tail section) like some kits.
