From the reimagined 2004-09 series, “The Beast” (as she was known), she is a matching scale model kit in 1/4105 scale, that will fit in scale alongside my Galactica model (also needing too be built). The only other surviving Battlestar in the Colonial Fleet, she was found by Galactica unexpectedly. Pegasus (BS-62) was a Mercury-class Battlestar, and one of the most advanced military ships in the Colonial Fleet. Along with Galactica, Pegasus was one of only two Colonial capital ships to survive the Fall of the Twelve Colonies in a massive Cylon sneak attack, serving under the command of Rear Admiral Helena Cain. It was destroyed two years later during the Exodus from New Caprica. This is a Moebius kit, which are always very nice to build. I’ll likely build the “Galactica” afterwards, but this is a good stance to get the painting right before tackling her. Anyway, REALLY looking forward to building this sweetheart!

Oooooh, very nice! What's your plan re: painting? Grey? Metallic-y? Great question! I’d bought some Vallejo Metalics, and the plan is to mess around with those for metallic-y. The Galactica had a lot of phasing from hull panel to panel, which I attributed to age; the Pegasus is a new-ish ship so I’m thinking Moore factory fresh, if that makes sense. Though the artwork on the box shows her in sunlight from some star, the finish was more a shiny matte. Now if that doesn’t all sound confusing, I’ll try a little harder The plan is to start Building next week… having issues with sitting at the moment while a slight procedure I had this week heals up. I don;t want to start building when feeling pissy, haha. As an aside… I bought some Mr. Cement SP and I’m thinking of trying it out on the Pegasus and/or one of my other builds in process.

In this scale, roughly how big is it? According to Starship Modeler it is 16" Also according to their review it is incredibly expensive in the US! "MSRP: $64395 USD (~$83.55 CAN/ € 59.21 EUR as of 01/2015) available from Starship Modeler"
For once a kit is cheaper in Canada

I appreciate all the positive waves, everyone!!! I’ve been saving this kit for a special moment and this indeed, is that special moment!!! I’ve a healthy stash of Battlestar Galactica items, new and old series, and so far, I’d only done that Colonial Recon Viper build you might have seen; that was the only one of the collection I intentionally did a conversion away from OOB and did something a little different… in the rest of the collection, they will stay straight design, some with extra accessories. You’re feedback is jazzing me up big time, so thank you!!!

Defenitly feel better before tinkering, good vibes only. BTW WELCOME TO THE BSGB . I never thought that title might cause conflict with a potential Sci-Fi GB. Oh well we'll sort that out later. In this scale, roughly how big is it? According to the specifications, the series’ Pegasus is 5,872 feet long. That is over 1.1 miles, almost 1.79 kilometers; at 1/4105, the model is still over 17 inches/43 centimeters long. To put that into perspective, a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier is roughly 1,100 feet long, so the Pegasus is longer than five Nimitz-class carriers end-to-end. Conversely, the various Constitution-class USS Enterprise variants from Star Trek are roughly the size of a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier. BOOM!!!! Mobius claimed they wanted the Pegasus to be to scale with the Galactica, so in presentation side-by-side, they are both scaled. I’m really not sure about that, but have no reason to doubt the claim. If you look at the images of the original Galactica release versus this Pegasus kit, you can see that Moebius Models didn't simply change the name plate for this release. The Pegasus has four flight decks, two in each pod, one atop the other, while Galactica only had two, one of which was already converted into a museum. In this scale, roughly how big is it? According to Starship Modeler it is 16" Also according to their review it is incredibly expensive in the US! www.starshipmodeler.com/other/jg_pegasus.htm Well, I had to check that one out!!! That was a typo where whoever added an extra “3”… the kit MSRP was $64.95 USD. I bought it in a hobby shop in Connecticut, somewhere around the time when it first came out, which is probably around 2013-14. I know it wouldn’t have been more than that price, and I seem to remember I’d bought Colonial One and the Cylon Centurian, along with Interstallar “Ranger”, which was a 2014 movie so, I’m goin’ with a 2014-15 purchase date. Currently, I see it going for between $200-400 USD! Yikes. As with anything out of print, the price skyrockets. There’s those little devils on my shoulder… “Build It!” “Sell it!” BAAAAAAH! … Build it!!! Size is about right… it’s listed as 17” long.
