Useless Fact (probably known to a lot of you): Immortan Joe was played by the late Hugh Keays-Byrne, who also played the chief villain, "Toecutter", in the original "Mad Max"... Well, this could have been THE movie of 2015: youtu.be/Tj1P1eEZRtYCheers, M Wha~t?! Orangutan Joe was the Toecutter? Oh man. Remember the night rider… I will. Okay I have a (serious) question regarding the kit. The kit exhaust piping seems to represent a “fake” 8-pipe layout, with only one live exhaust pipe per side and dummy pipes the rest of the way. Was the real car this way? The scene where it gets destroyed clearly shows the underside of the car IIRC. |

Zoomies (the real thing) on the front of the car are just separate pipes coming off like an unjoined header. At the rear of the car they are connected to a single pipe that leads to the header. They are not true "zoomie" since they are not sperate pipes.  The kit parts are accurate to the movie cars. |

That looks like Max took time out of his busy day to run it through a car wash. It needs to be much MUCH dirtier and beat on. www.youtube.com/watch?v=sq3dWizigooMy exhaust is the same as yours which means it is modeled either before or after Road Warrior. After the first movie was done they couldn't pay their bills so they gave the car to the mechanic. He cut the pipes off and removed the fake blower, drove it around a while and then just parked it. When they bough it back for the second movie they had more money so went all out and made everything real and working. It is said they took it to almost 800 HP and in the opening scene when he accelerates he really is going that fast. after that movie it was sent to an auto wrecker where it was supposed to be crushed and the working parts were stripped and it sat and rotted. Then it was bought by some dude and it was again rebuilt. Then it kept changing hands for a while. I found the answer to my mystery on why the kit was a combo of the first and second version. It is that rebuild that way! "In terms of the Mad Max films' canon, Fursenko’s changes made the car a combination of styling traits it wore in the films but never at the same time." All they didn't use on the kit was the redone front end. Once it ended up in the US it was changed a bit again including adding the stowage and cargo net rack so they are not really "accurate" to the movie. Even the stowage provided with both versions of the kit are more the museum version than the movie one!  www.drive.com.au/news/the-original-interceptor-from-mad-max-is-up-for-sale-again/Ultimately, what it boils down to is, you can do fairly accurate Road Warrior version of the outside but underneath and inside are free game. You could also do about 6 different versions as the real car went through it's ups and downs. |

I always meant to go and see it when it was at the "Cars of the Stars" in Keswick (only about an hours' drive away) but kept putting it off and didn't learn of the sale until about a week later. The whole collection disappeared overnight - well, two nights, maybe. A wargaming acquaintance' family was connected with the sellers and he got to go down when the exhibits were being moved out of the display area. It would have been an ideal opportunity for photography but I haven't seen any; my wargamer pal was more interested in getting up close and personal with some items, he got to sit in several including K.I.T.T.! "Cars of the Stars" liked to keep some vehicles street legal and the service/M.O.T/whatever was done somewhere like Cockermouth (I really don't think it was M-Sport UK at Papcastle  ) and the A66 between the two locations is laid along the course of the railway axed by Beeching which made it pretty much the longest flat straight road in Cumbria west of the M6. Which is how the "Black Rats" (Cumbria Roads Policing Unit) got to pull over a genuine Batmobile... Cheers, M |

Almost gave up on the door a few ties and I amend my original statement of thinking they used a hack saw to open it to they had to have used a Skill saw! Still working on the greeblies for "detail" but I do have a decent fitting and functioning door. It would not pass muster on a shiny show car but will do just fine on this beat up old girl.  Used some hinges off a junked kit and a piece of tube. Just tacked on here and gaps will get filled once details done.  Base for inner door pan. Will add some stuff for interest but most will be hidden by pouches and manchette anyway.  I really like it now! I totally forgot that it only had one seat. I really need to watch the movie again! There is the jump seat for Dog but you only see it for about 3 seconds in the movie. |

Everything primed with black rattle can automotive primer. This will also be the main body colour. Gonna' be plenty sick of black even if I will be using 5 "different" shades/sheens of it. Door fit now that I can actually see it is pretty good. Not perfect but fine for this purpose.  |

It is sort of cool to have the opening door though since you can see a bit more inside of what will be the almost completely black abyss of the interior. |

FINALLY.......I get the chance to get in here and have a good look at the progress that's going on. This car has always been one of my favorites since the first movie was released. You're doing a great job of replicating the details in that interior Tony!!

Well it is more of a hint of the interior details than a replication but as I have learned throughout this exercise there really isn't any truly accurate overall interior shots of the movie car anyway. As long as there is a bunch of random stuff in there it is close. I love doing random stuff so that fits right in with my abilities. |

Chassis detail painting done. Most is all molded solid but at least the paint gives some definition. Factory fresh at this point but won't be for long. I have a question dodgy or any of our down under folks. Just how much underbody/suspension rust could you expect for a roughly 5 year old, desert driven but poorly maintained car? There would be no floor left at all if it was here but I can't find any good references for there.  |
