1940 Ford Coupe

[70 STING]

Got 'er done and photographed this weekend.  This build was part of the "Born in the USA" group build. Work thread can be found here.

Body is painted Mr. Color C-81 Russet Gloss & Tamiya LP-71 Champagne Gold over Tamiya Pink primer then cleared with Mr. Color GX100.

Interior is a Caramel colour mix of Tamiya acrylic Green, Red and Yellow with XF-64 Red Brown trim then cleared with Tamiya X-35. Carpeting is Ranger Embossing Powder Potting Soil sealed with Tamiya XF Flat Clear.

Tires & wheels from the spares box were stripped and painted Alclad Chrome + Aqua Gloss.

That two-tone scheme is just hot. And the interior is gorgeous!

Paint on this had to be an undertaking all on its own Sting......and the shine!!! You sure put the work into this car and it shows. Beautiful interior paint and detailing along with a well stocked engine bay round this one out VERY nicely. WOW!!! 

It's been great to have you in this GB STING.  You got another one in you?

That came out great! Glad you kept at it. Many people would have made an airplane out of it.

Flawless looking paint finish on this and I love the two tone colors you chose! The interior colors along with the wood steering wheel compliment it perfectly

I went to a local car show/flea market for the first time a couple weeks ago.  Let me say this: you build a kit and think to yourself - this looks pretty decent as you try to overlook the numerous flaws you know are there. Then you get to see what a truly high-end build looks like and reality hits you in the eyeballs.  I can only imagine the quality builds on display at the U.S. Nats or IPMS shows.   


Anyhoo, another GB huh?  I was planning on going import for my next kit. Let me look at my little stash and see if anything tickles my fancy...

Thanks moparman18064  I guess I've mellowed the past 2 or 3 years. I certainly get annoyed, but I can't let a bunch of plastic get the better of me. Besides, I've read here and other places that most mistakes can be fixed.
