We just got a call from our daughter. Kimberly has two special needs kiddos. One has a rigid evening potty routine that takes some time due to the Spina Bifida). You also have to know that the neighbors on the right are, shall we say, unique. This isn't an affluent area, so I'm sure these folks don't have a lot.
These neighbors caught their garage on fire last night. With no setback requirements, there is only about 18" between their garage and Kim's property line. Maybe an additional 12" or so to the wooden privacy fence around here yard. That side of her house is vinyl siding.
The reason the potty issue is important? It takes around 30-60 minutes to complete. The bathroom is on the side of the house closest to their garage.
Good news is no one was hurt. My guess is the garage is a total loss. Kimberly has melted siding and ZI'm s ure that the fence has damage as well. I will try to get some pictures later today when I go to pick up the grandson.
I guess to say, "It's always something." would be appropriate.

Fire is always worrysome, we live in an area were wildland fires can and have taken entire towns. Glad to hear everyone is safe and the damage to property was the only thing. Things can be fixed...harder to grow new people.

WOW!!! Man that DOES suck for the neighbors but am glad that no one was hurt. Hopefully the process for repairing the property and house goes smoothly.

I'm glad to hear everyone is ok. I went through a couple of house fires in my life and don't envy anyone who has to go through that on top of dealing with insurance adjusters

Thanks, folks. I've never experienced a house fire and do not want to. Our best friends lost a rental house that we had lived in some years before it burned., they rebuild it and now live in it. It is ugly.

Glad to hear that your family came through this fairly well off. I hope that the neighbors didn’t have too great a loss. House fires are always so tragic from the loss of personal items alone.

They were incredibly lucky. This was a detached garage, so the neighbor’s may not have been seriously damaged. Hope to get some pics on a couple of hours.

Oh man. What a scary situation Lyle. Glad to hear everyone is ok. I’ve also been fortunate to never have a house fire but that’s a terrifying deal.
