Hi guys. I figured I'd make a thread on my house remodel which has been going on for almost 2 years. First, here is my kitchen. I can't install the lower cabinets until I install the floor. I can't do that until I get a plumbing inspection and I can’t get that until I complete the guest bathroom, which I haven't even started yet. The upper cabinets, temp sink and dishwasher are installed for now. I still need to buy a stove, however I have all the necessary appliances to cook and clean. The cabinets will be painted mica and the countertop will be a resin pour. Stay tuned for more as I complete it. Before I purchased the house What I've done to this point Next, I show what has been done to the exterior so far.

Hey, Steve. So good to see you. Is this the house in Texas? Thanks for the Christmas card, too. You have been on my mind.

Thanks guys. Yes it is the house in northern Texas. I usually only get about 4 hours in the morning to work on it, not including my morning of coffee, pulling the tools out, lunch, putting the tools back up, cleaning up and getting ready for my real job. Removing the old inadequate ceiling insulation, cleaning and flooring the attic took me 2 months in itself. Cleaning the mess the old owners left took a few months and several trips to the dump. It will take me a couple more years before I'm where I want to be.

Thank you again guys. Folks, good luck to you. I am finally seeing some progress on the inside. The guest bath area is a mess. Their tub leaked resulting in dry rot and an unlevel area because the piers sank into the soaked mud in the crawl space. The area has long since dried and I can go under and re-level the piers. I believe my next major project will be to repair that area and build new walls thereby rearranging the bathroom layout. I'm planning a heated floor, bidet and larger tub for improvements.

Fine work sir. In early 2010 Nancy and I started this process with one of the kid's old bedrooms. Eight years later we finished it up and had pretty much rebuilt the entire house; we were very happy to have it done...sheetrock dust makes your roast beef and gravy taste funny. Despite the most careful sweeping and vaccuming the stuff gets everywhere, two years after the finish we were still finding deposits of it. Last time I'll do such a thing running mud on ceilings is painful at my age

I couldn't get motivated this week since they changed our hours at work. I get to be at 12:30 at the earliest if I'm lucky and try to get up at 8. If I get to sleep as soon as I hit the bed I good but not this week. I've just been a sloth before getting ready foe work. I'll get 3 days this weekend to hit it again. The backyard, mudding the pantry and repairing the joists under what's going to be the guest bath. Maybe it's good to get thus rest. Tomorrow I'll be at my GF's house and work on the Butcher Bird but let the beatings begin on Friday.

Is that cultured stone on the lower portion of what was(I'm assuming) the garage? If it is a masonry product...it can also be slapped on over the brick and foundation walls...if you so desire.

What huge improvements!!! I had my 50+ years old cedar sidings replaced three years ago with cement fiber sidings and it wasn't that cheap!

Hi Steve, Glad to see your healthy and busy old friend, and as usual, if you are not modeling something, your remodeling something.
My wife and I still remember the amazing remodel you did on the house you lived at in Havre. It actually inspired us when we bought our first house and to what to do with it. Took us eleven years but we now have a 95 year old house that is 100% renovated and modern. Now she is looking at two little bungalows down the street to buy and turn into ABNBs. So much for model bench time.
My mother in law in Flowermound passed away last May, so I've been down there quite a bit working on their house. It needs just about everything. We contracted out the siding and roof and then ran out of money, so I have been doing the majority of the inside. Dad in law wants to fix it up to sell by Fall. Maybe see ya at the hardware store if not the hobby store.
Stay safe buddy and look forward to seeing it finished, with lots of room for 1/350 scale ships. Scott

Sorry for the silence guys. Fermis. No sir. It's faux stone made out of foam. I am thinking of continuing it along the front foundation but it's very expensive. Thanks guys for the compliments. I've been wiring other rooms ans straightening the romex in the attic that was quickly ran earlier. I've also been planting some perennials at the front of the house so it will have some curb appeal after a few years.

Unless you pay a bunch of others to do all that needs to be done this'll take time...most of us are aware of this as well as why you lack spare time. Have at 'er brother 1/1 projects are a pain but worthwhile in the long run
