Perfect black paint work! The curtains in back are the perfect detail to add to this!

This is spectacular and I would never thought of this conversion. Have to add this to my Cars I Used To Actually Own list even though I didn't own it long I did have one. There was a '59 just like that that sat behind the small town mortuary near where my parents lived. In '90 my dad was contracted to clean up the lot and they told him to just haul the thing away. I of course scooped it up with big plans of hot rodding it. Once I got it to the shop I found the engine seized, about 25% of the floor gone and a good section of the roof rotted away under the vinyl. Over the course of a few weeks we managed to get the engine unstuck and most of the floor "patched" and into a basically drivable condition. When I started into the roof and it was just disintegrating as I moved along I gave up and sold it for $500. Had pretty much forgotten all about it until I saw this thread.

Beautiful work on this one as well. That black really looks great. And I love the curtains too. Awesome work converting this into a hearse.

Looks great! Hearse kits are very hard to come by. Those things give me the willies every time I see one on the road.

This was not built from a hearse kit I actually built this from a Ghostbusters kit. I had to fill a lot of holes in on the roof and quarter panels where the Ghostbusters equipment would go. The curtains came from three inches under on ebay. I made the vinyl top with two inch blue painter tape and painted it with black craft paint. The body was airbrushed with decanted Tamiya black TS-14 and cleared with testors wet look. I have another one in the stash I think I might make an ambulance out of that one.

Yes, I thought that looked familiar. :^) You really did an awesome job on it. I just checked out the 3 Inches Under website… they have body bags and a mortuary table!

Awsome work! A black paint job like that really shows off the attention to details. You can't hide flaws on that. Stay safe. Jim
