another subject type I like to build are ships. This one is the Trumpeter 700th scale Richelieu in a camo from World Of Warships (My favourite game to play)
This was a fun project but it did take a while to mask
I probably should have done this in 1/350 to go with my Bismarck and Alaska, but hey, you live and learn right

That a very sharp looking build! And yes, 1/350 would be impressive.

Oh man, you're a braver man than I Gunga Din! I built this same ship in 1/700 scale and kept it simple. I don't think I ever would have the skill or temperament to mask and paint this ship in this manner!

Love the way you weather the lower hulls. Gotta get a lesson from you!

The camo is awesome. And again I just love the weathering. Brilliant work.

Love the way you weather the lower hulls. Gotta get a lesson from you! More than happy to share. Believe it or not, most of the weathering is done with a sheet of dust extraction fan filter "stuff". I'll post a pic of it later. I use it on scifi subjects too. Basically you just stretch it out to open it up and spray a different shade of colour over the previous one. It creates a really cool effect. Lately I've been experimenting with oils and seem to be getting good results. The Exeter will be my oils outing showcase. TBH, your HClass is bloody awesome, so nit sure what you can learn from me, but as I said, happy to share anything relevant

I will be doing a hull up capsized ship and I was sort of at a loss on how to do a dirty, streaked and barnacle infested hull in this scale. This technique could be the perfect answer.

WOW!! That camo scheme is just NUTS....and in such small scale. Beautiful detailing and paint work throughout on this ship Simon!! How long did this build take you to complete?

Thanks guys. From memory, it took me a month to do from start to finish. I love WOWSL and some of the camos there. I'm definitely not a purist so for me, anything goes! The type as shown in my build is the type 3. Not long after I finished this, Wargaming changed some of the colours slightly Waut tull tou see what I have in mind for the Haruna and H-Class (or Pommern as he's known in game).

If I had seen the Puerto Rico theme soon enough to do it for the red white and blue theme at Nats this year oh I would’ve been all over that!!!

I vote magenta since you’ve got something very similar to that darker, gray and red theme

Actually, I have a third and fourth option as well. I just need to talk to someone about creating some decals for one. I'll try post a pic of both tonight and put it up for a vote

can you print gold?
These are the other 2 options I'm looking at for a scheme. First is the "Golden Week" camo. Yes, I know its the Kongo pictured but given they are sister ships, there isnt uch in difference. The scheme would be the same. I need someone who can print those waves as decals - including the cloud-like pattern on the top of the deck and the bow waves.
This is the other option - less those white dots because I personally don't like them
And for the H Class BB (the Pommern), I'm going to do this:
I know I already have a 4 tone ship which does include black and red, but this is just red and black and I really like this camo on this ship - it looks the part IMO.
I found a really good 3D model of the ARP Haruna and it is super cool. I'd change the colours and maybe take out some of the odd symbols in there. This site is seriously cool and really useful - especially if your looking for IJN ships:

Super cool stuff there! This always happens to me…now I’m totally distracted from my build plan and looking to interrupt it to do something like this!

can you print gold? not that i know of without a professional printer of some sort. We get some bright yellows with the laser printer at work but I haven’t actually tried a gold, like a gold medal, to see what happens. When i print decals next week i’ll see what it does on my test print.
