Hello fellow modelers. I'm looking for help in establishing which BTR this is: For discussions only. Sorry for the quality of the picture but it's the best I could find. I think it's BTR-70 but I'm not sure and if anyone could clear my doubts that would be great. Also do any of you know anything about the modification that to this particular model? The turret was taken off and some still plate was screwed in its place. But I can't figure out what’s the "box" in the middle and if there were any more changes done. I would be grateful for any help in solving this problem. Thank you in advance. Best Regards Lukasz

Lukasz I was thinking the 70 as well. I'm no expert but from what I can see, what I remember. Also just noticed there is no turret, and instead a steel plate bolted in it's place.
Great pic and lots of potential for a dio

Hi Rob, Yeah the steel plate looks like it would have been screwed instead of the turret but as you can see there is some kind of "box" thing on the top and I don’t know what it is or how it looks like. I'm asking as I wanted to make this particular BTR Cheers Lukasz

that box thing at the rear looks like it is behind it, but it could also be attached to it in some way, but i think it is behind it Came across this image, so could it be the engine covers

but it looks like a plate welded over the turret ring? Like you'd see with a tank converted to a tractor. Yeah but what's that on that plate that's the big problem

Could be a vision port thing, a vent etc. The plate is bolted on and not wleded, you can see the bolts around the perimeter. My guess it's a periscope for the vehicle commander. Will try to google the 70 and see what I find.

Well I got more feedback that it's 70 as for the box I also thought it's a periscope then after inspection that theory fell. I thought about a hatch but I think it's too small. But a Vent hmmm sounds so stupid that actually Russians might have done this. P.S. Didn’t want to offend anyone it’s just when the disaster happened they lied to people and filled their head’s with nonsense and that might fit the bill.
