As some of you may know- I like to mess around with large scale stuff. I've decided to take a 9" figure designed to be printed in resin, and try scaling it up 150% in FDM PLA plastic. Who thinks this will turn out well, or will it be an absolute train wreck? Sound off, and then tune in

Looks like it has really crisp detail to it. I'll be watching for more of this

I expect the head and arms will give me the most trouble. We'll see what we see.

Loved those movies! You definitely have my attention too. absolutely loved the first one. Big fan of Paul Verhoeven. 2nd was okay..but the humor wasn't the same. 3rd one I couldn't sit through lol. Less said about the 2014 version the better:)

This looks like a challenging project! What printer are you doing this on and what filament are you going to use?
I know I couldn't print this yet, looking forward to seeing you take it on.

3d printing is still beyond my grasp but I am very interested to see how this prints out in the large scale you are planning.

I'll be getting the leg off the printer soon. I wonder how well it will look after cleanup.

I moved on to the right leg, and I think it turned out pretty well (although I did snap off the strut in clean up). I'll be providing more updates on an upcoming episode of the show. rumble.com/BattlescaleCollectica

That looks good. I can see the print lines; will that be a pain to sand or not? The last 3D print I worked on was very difficult to deal with, but I eventually got it done. I believe it depends on the type of resin used, is that correct?

Hi all, I gave a quick update on this print on the most recent show posted Saturday. I'll also have another update here on the arms by the end of this week. Stay tuned....

Successfully printed all the RoboCop pieces. I'm really happy with the results, although it took a couple tries on the arms and head. After starting the project, I had a new crazy idea that I knew would not be feasible with the PLA head, so I ended up hedging my bets and also printed a head in resin. So there will be some resin in the final figure. But even in resin some of the very fine scribed OCP Police text in the helmet didn't really print. It's not a big deal because he's going to be in rough shape after messing with ED-209 and entire Detroit Police Force. PLA head on the right, and the Resin head is on the left.
