So after being handed a solid arse kicking by the Trumpeter five in one kit I went to the LHS and found this which followed me home. Comparison of various elements revealed that some of the parts in the Trumpy kit have more intricate molding with better detail so the plan is to combine the kits attempting to use the best elements of both. I'll even try to use the Trumpy link and length tracks as I've found they'll fit the Tammy drive sprockets; we'll seee where this takes me. Guess I'll have to call it a Tameter or something like that

Thanks blokes Gonna call it a Tampeter. Seems right. Current state Not much to this kit maybe ten parts total on the upper hull; it builds up fast. I'll save the tracks for last 'cause they're my favorite. Gonna try to finish this in the scheme used on the tanks that participated in the IFOR deployments since I don't have anything like that in the collection

Bookmarked! I like the idea of cherry picking more detailed parts to put on this!

Excellent start… it will be a fun project for us to follow. I am going to call it Tankenstein instead of Frankenstein! 🤣

It's much more fun to mix and match, in my exceedingly humble opinion.

Thanks gents So as some were probably expecting, the Trumpy link and length tracks took a high velocity trip into the garbage bucket; I was sort of expecting it too since I have a dislike of glue together styrene links. They are a large pain. Build's done I'm kind of underwhelmed. Perhaps it'll look more interesting in primer. Commander and Loader. Since I've never been much good at, nor much enjoyed painting teeny little 1/35 faces I covered as much of them up as I could Right now I'm trying to decide whether to ignore the lack of anti-slip on the model or not

Are you going to do this M1 in a Sand scheme or in NATO camo?

NATO style camo. Lack of anti slip may not be over noticeable painted thus hence my waffling

I haven't hardly touched this lately as it's the hot part of Prairie Dog season; I spend most of my spare time afield these days. This has paid well as I am up to 500 at the time of this writing.
No doubt there'll be a rainy day or two where I'll be able to catch this up a bit

You're right about the fact that this kit builds up fast Mark. 10 pieces to the hull??! Kit pretty much puts itself together. Good work so far man.

Looks ready for some color to be sprayed on it. What did you use for replacement tracks?

I'm going to have to look back at your Trumpeter Abrams thread...was the kit that bad? I have a couple in my stash.

They're not great kits as a whole but have some decent parts in them, and the upper hulls have a decent anti-slip texture.

Thanks gents
H I used the Trumpeter bandies as I already had them fit and stapled together
Dupes the biggest problem with the Trumpy kit is an excess of pin marks which are everywhere, one could spend a week filling and sanding them out. They are all over everything in places where they can be seen so it's not like they can be ignored. This is followed by general ill fit overall. Given the price of the kit this was something I should have been prepared for but for some reason I was not.
