Should be fun to detail. I've just did the Bandai T-Rex and my wife did the cup-o-noodle model. Man they make nice stuff.

For reference - no filming model had canopy glass in any of the SW movies (digital assets are a different story). Leaving the glass out is "accurate"!

Thanks! Should be fun to detail. I've just did the Bandai T-Rex and my wife did the cup-o-noodle model. Man they make nice stuff. Thank you! The Bandai stuff is just so nice. I loved your t-Rex and the cup-o-noodle kit is too fun. So much great detail This is looking really good...gonna have to watch this thread. 🤓 Thank you! For reference - no filming model had canopy glass in any of the SW movies (digital assets are a different story). Leaving the glass out is "accurate"! Accuracy? In a Star Wars kit? I can’t even get that right on historical subjects. 😂😂 No, really I prefer the clear one. I figure if I was flying in space I’d want some sort of windscreen myself. Plus it’s a 3 piece so can be opened up in different ways. I also used the clear canopy on my X-wing build but the open ones look really nice too.

Just trying to save you from all of the masking! 😁 Trust me, I already strongly considered not even messing with the glass one to avoid the masking. Lol. But I can display the cockpit door open with that one. I’ll likely paint them both up no matter what. “Red Leader this is Gold Leader…” 👍🏼 Gold leader was a cool dude. Following this one Kyle! It looks like you have a good start for one session. Thank you!

Bandai kits are the perfect travel build. Little clean up, great engineering and perfect fit all come together for later painting.

“Red Leader this is Gold Leader…” 👍🏼 I've often had an urge to decorate a Y-Wing with the colours and markings as worn by an aircraft of VT-8 on June 4, 1942... Cheers, M

It has 8nfluences from Dambusters & Toko Ri for sure… plus perhaps 633 Squadron… at least for the trench runs. Some of the other dogfight scenes sure look to be out of Battle of Britain…

Bandai kits are the perfect travel build. Little clean up, great engineering and perfect fit all come together for later painting. They really are. It was a relaxing night off and I had a basically assembled model in one session with zero headaches. Sweet. I've heard good things about this kit. Always great seeing some sci-fi stuff!! It’s a truly wonderful kit. I like it even more than their X-wing. I’d like to find a couple more of them. Y-wings are some of my favorites. Just trying to save you from all of the masking! 😁 God reason to switch to armor! One thing I haven’t tried yet. Maybe one day I’ll blow the dust off that Sherman in my stash. Lol. “Red Leader this is Gold Leader…” 👍🏼 I've often had an urge to decorate a Y-Wing with the colours and markings as worn by an aircraft of VT-8 on June 4, 1942... Cheers, M Definitely would love that. Great idea. It does have Avenger vibes to me.

Let's not forget 1964s "633 Squadron"...
More recently we've had "Mortal Engines" which had a sort of "Trench Run" (and a "Luke, I am your father!" moment but not at the same time as the "drop into the big funnel-type thing").
Cheers,
M

One of my favorite Star Wars spacecraft. Looks like you are doing a great job with it. Me too! The Y Wing was the first SW ship I fell in love with. I remember being driven home from the theater, with my face in the wind (because our 1969 Plymouth Valiant didn’t have A/C), dreaming about what I had just saw. And I was wondering how to get a model of the Y Wing. Imagine it took this long to get a decent plastic kit. But the Bandai kit is so awesome, so the wait was worth it!

This is magnificent! I built the 1/72 scale model of this Bandai kit some years back. What a fantastic build and a fun model! I'm looking forward to seeing yours made up.

It's an awesome kit. I believe this is the 1/72 version. Still haven't painted it yet but perhaps this weekend if the rain ever stops. This reminds me - it's been a LONG time since we had a Star Wars GB around here. May need to get that going sooner rather than later! I'm in for that whenever. I have more Bandai in stash, some new tool round 2 stuff and some good old horrible MPC stuff. The gaps are a feature on those kits!! perfect for destroyed diorama work. Lol

I would be into a Star Wars build. In fact after seeing Kyle's here I sorta' want one. The beauty is I can give the finished thing to my son's boss who I have build several kits for and save on display space!

That way I don’t have to find room for them. Finding people that want them is my issue…

I've got a couple of Star Wars kits hanging around, I'd be in for a group build.
I have this y wing kit. Are there any fit issues with it? I've build a couple of the Bandai Star Wars kits and always have minor fit issues.

I've build a couple of the Bandai Star Wars kits and always have minor fit issues. It could be a product of my background in the hobby with horrible old auto kits but this Y wing is nearly perfect in my eyes. I’ve built the Bandai X-wing and I thought it was perfect but the Y wing is better. Zero issues or complaints. I love it.
