This was a beautiful kit that I took super sideways. All on me - bit of a train wreck but finished it rather than binned it. Decals are from DRAW - really liked the livery but botched the build. Don't look too close :headslap: I had issues with Tamiya gloss black behaving poorly - maybe too hot in the garage??? Mixed gloss/flat appearance. Then I tried Testors wet look and it pebbled the wings. Smudge of white on the stand. Masking issues on and on...

I have those same issues with Tamiya blacks also. My guess was too much pressure or too close. Doesnt explain why flat would come out with a shine though. Still nice work John!

The build looks great from Florida. You'd never know of the issues

Well, if she fought you, in the end you won. This looks quite nice from here! Much better than all those airliners sitting out at Goodyear airport.

Thanks all. Hey Carlos - they have a C-54 out there. And funny you should mention because I have a 1/200 Hasegawa Airbus 321 Neo on the bench that I'm doing in the Spirit airline livery because the have a half dozen of them out there. All lined up shiny and bright yellow.

Despite the issues with the clear that you had, this one came out lookin' like a charm John. Some good work there buddy.
P.S. Did you decant the Wet Look or shoot it from the can?

I shot it from the can. I'm it spattered and was kinda milky. I'm wondering if the AZ heat is affecting my rattle cans out in the garage.

I really am sorry for the way it worked out for you but that's the way that stuff is right out of the can. I tried one time to shoot it straight from the can and there were bubbles everywhere. The best way to apply this clear is to decant it and wait around 5 minutes for it to "gas out". I promise you, if you try decanting it one time ......you'll never use any other clear. It's that good.

Well maybe I'll dig it out of the trash and try that on a test mule. I've had some success with 2k clear but was too lazy to mix it up 😂

And yeah, that old Douglas has been out there for many years... at least since we started looking to move here back in '19.
