Things are slow at work today so I thought I'd post one of my past builds... Yep, its the OLD Tamiya kit you probably have built when you were young as it was released in 1975. I got this when I brought a huge stash of old 25 kits for about $125 via eBay few years ago when I returned to modeling after 25 years break. I wanted to build it because I built one when I was 13 or 14 years old... It was a perfect opportunity for me to learn how to make Zimm using putty and use a lot of aftermarket sets. Used Armorscale barrel, skirts from RB and tracks from Modelkasten. Building process: My first attempt doing Zimm putty... used Tamiya applicator set: My objective: Actual photo: Used dry transfers from Archer which worked GREAT on Zimm...

Thanks guys! Thought you would enjoy the pictures. Still have that old classic Tamiya 88mm Gun Flak that came with the Pz IV... one day I will attack it.

Very nice Andy, well done on the gong too You're right, there seems to be less pressure to get the 'show stopper' when you work up an old kit and the result can be more rewarding.. pun intended ! ;D

The tank looks great!! Good job. Only the base is a little tiny.

Gary- LOL Thanks bro! Yes it was my first attempt but I practiced a lot on spare parts. Did different attempts but nothing worked good until I got this applicator set from Tamiya then it was finally perfect. Here's an example... using tiny screwdrivers. Not good... I used 3M Glazing Putty you can find at auto shops. Much cheaper and gives me more time to work on it... recommended by a friend in other forum. Steve- Thanks!!! That's what I thought... wondered if older kits get bonus points at shows or something like that? Glad I didn't get rid of old kits I bought few years ago because I don't really buy old kits now. Madairbrush- LOL! Thanks... that base is a temporary. I am hoping to do a diorama for that tank to go with couple of figures I built along with the commander. I have yet built a diorama!!! That's my biggest weakness...
