June 2024 Model Of The Month-Atlantis Space Shuttle

Well folks, it looks like we’re now kicking off the Model of the Month event which marks another milestone in for MSC. It's been 6 years since the last Model of the Month event and we’ve been anticipating the return of this great part of what MSC used to put on each month for the members for a long while now that time is upon us.

To kick things off, the first “win”/ featured model was hand-picked from the admin team just because of two member’s hard work on such a great marvel of a project. Christopher (Bradley25mm) & Chris (the mongoose) teamed up to restore/ rebuild a 1/15 scale replica of the space shuttle Atlantis for display at the Houston Space Center. It was an 8-month long project that the two of these two gentlemen worked together on tirelessly that resulted in an outstanding museum piece and gift for all to see at the museum. Thank you both for sharing the restoration of this project with us here at MSC and it is our honor and pleasure to present this model as this month’s winner for Model of the Month. Hats off and Congratulations to both of you guys for such hard work and determination in bringing this shuttle to life.

Thanks everyone for having a look, and your kind comments. Since the Smithsonian played a large part in this, I decided to send them some photos of the finished display. When one of their curators saw it, they were blown away. They had questions about the project. Budget, hours. They stated that they had a few of these in their inventory, and are always looking for model contractors to maintain their inventory. Who knows what will come of this.
