The Black Pearl 1:72 Zvezda Kit

This is the 1:72 scale Black Pearl.  Took 4 months to build.  Illuminated with flicker oil lamps.  The doorway wall to the Captain’s Quarters was modified to be flat instead of curved.
Basswood veneer decking and other modifications as listed by each photo





Scratch made helm plate with holes for steering lines, basswood decking, modified angled skylight over Captain’s Quarters


Cannon balls made from from candy baking decorations, roped cannons, basswood decking, aftermarket crates and barrels






I had to reef the Mizzen sail because it came down too far and was in a position that would hit the helm.  
One of the very few issues with the kit.

Now that is SUPER COOL. Looks like a ton of work as well, but you killed it. That is a very good looking build.

Thanks!   Sailing ships aren’t part of my genre, but my wife wanted a sailboat to put on the desk.  What ships I saw at some of the tourist trap stores were limited in detail and way overpriced.  So, I thought I give it a shot.  Of course I had to light it up too.  If anything, the rigging itself was enough to drive you batty.  Last time I built one was 50 years ago and that didn’t end well.

Now THAT.....is the bigger boat that they must have been talking about in JAWS. lol.

Super detailed inside and out with some good weathering involved as well. I absolutely love all the scratch building and ingenuity that went into the build Jack. Fantastic modeling across the board with this one bud.

The rigging had me crosseyed at times with the magnifying headset.  My problem is when I get wild ideas for a build and start on it, it’s tough to just walk away.

 I have the same problem. I can never just leave well enough alone. Ask Joe Rix......he'll tell you. lololololol
