This is just a placeholder at the moment but I have drug the box out and started thinking about gluing some things together. Building it for my nephew for his birthday. He wants a Top Gun F14 so I sourced some decals for the movie planes. This will be my first jet. At a glance the sprues look really nice. Here's the boxing I have...More soon.

What a fun thing to do for your nephew. It should be a good deal of fun for you also.

I built a couple of these Academy F-14s (A's from Final Countdown and Topgun) for my son's boss back when the kit came out. They are very nice! There are options for just about every version included but you have to shave off a couple of sensors and such to do the A from Topgun. Loads of references out there on exactly what has to be altered. Pictures are lost I am afraid.

Thank you all for the interest!! I have just started sticking things together. I also have some canopy masks on the way and already have the Quinta cockpit decals for it. I’ll get some photos once there is something worth seeing.

Oh yeah, I started this one too. Cockpit first of course. Loving some more of the Quinta stuff. It is so nice. It's almost like cheating and I love it. Lol.

Beautiful! LOL about cheating as I felt the same but it's no different from using those old painted PE sets by Eduard and others. Nothing beats Quinta Studio at this moment...

Very nice! I know what you mean about the 3d decals. Thanks John! Going to try to do the ejector seats using some more 3d goodies if I get off work at a decent time.

That pit looks amazing Kyle. I don't think I'll ever go back to the old way of doing pits if there's a Quinta set available for whatever kit I'm building.

I was hoping to get to the ejector seats this morning after work, but I just got home and it's bed time so maybe after I wake up.

Sweet looking office Kyle! Thank you very much! Oh yeah, I started this one too. Cockpit first of course. Loving some more of the Quinta stuff. It is so nice. It's almost like cheating and I love it. Lol. Holy smokes is that decal?? Is that what you mean by cheating? Yes sir, that is all decal work. But with raised details. The Quinta stuff is so easy to use. Their decals fit precisely over kit parts. I use a little mod podge to help them stick. You just have to remove any of the molded in raised details wherever you're using them but they really do elevate the pieces. It's such an upgrade that I can't see building an airplane without them, if they're available for the kit I'm building. My belts, ejection handles and details on the two ejector seats will all be from the same Quinta Studios set

Between 3d decals, 3d printed parts and advanced slide molding we are in the most hi-tech age of modeling to date.

You know, I have no idea. I’m not even sure what the kit parts consist of. Lol. I just hadn’t thought that far ahead. I tend to go closed canopy. We’ll find out together!

Well I got home late again but I was tired of not getting anything done on this so I’ve stayed up late. Tiny ejector seats are finished and now I can move along from here.

That’s some impressive work! Dang looks like it could be 1/32 as much detail as you picked out on those 👍

I'm with Chris ( themongoose ) on that open cockpit idea Kyle. That is looking spectacular in this scale bud.

Very cool! Interesting that it's a completely different model but they use the same box art as their 1/48 scale Tomcat.
