The European exhibition Eurosatory 2024 is underway, and there are several new tanks. I think the angular designs look gimmicky. It is hard to envision them on the battlefield in Ukraine. The Booker I knew about, but those others... I hope Tamiya doesn't slap out some inaccurate prototype kits before any of them hit production lol.

Wow, some most interesting stuff! I finally got myself a Leopard 2A7, now they have an -A8? Man, I can't keep up! It'll be nice to get another French tank; they don't make many of them.
We'll see. You guys will get 1/35th scale models of these long before I see any in 1/72 scale.

What a good and informative thread Brian. I’ve been out of the loop on modern armor now for a while so this is definitely worthwhile in catching up with the new stuff out there.
That 140mm gun……YEESH!!!

I enjoyed studying this image of a group of Israeli tanks staging. You can right-click on the image, choose view in a new tab, and be able to zoom into the image. Observations: 1) Notice the two sandbags? on the front right of almost every tank turret 2) The hand-painted numbers on the right rear of the turret 3) The cope cages, and how the cope cages are attached to the turrets. 4) The weathering of the tanks 5) The white line painted down the top of the barrel 6) On two of the tanks, you can see a shackle hanging on an appendage on the front right side of the turret. Only 2 of the tanks appear to have this appendage. 7) Three of the tanks have a "V" on the right skirts; however, they all point in different directions  |

That is a fantastic shot of those Israeli tanks! Nice! I'm saving that! I might have to get another Merkava IV and see if I can add a cope cage to it.

Can’t say why. 2, hand painted numbers are done on a canvas square and are a standard IDF tank feature going back to at least the 1973 war 6, the tow shackles on the two tanks look to be looped over the same turret rails where the sandbags are attached/placed 7, the “spinning” V insignia is another old IDF armor insignia with the orientation of the V designating the different companies within a battalion. US Army forces have adopted a similar system, in place of the old geometric symbols used. |
