This is not a model. It's a toy from Jazwares that is similar in execution to the old Galoob Action Fleet line of Star Wars toys from the mid 90's. However, sometimes you see potential in things that are pretty cool to start with and you think, I know how I can make that better. So that's the thought behind this little distraction. It turned out pretty good considering it's not a model. From the factory this toy has a fairly awful, uh, "dirt" wash applied to it. It basically looks like someone dipped it into a latte and let it dry. It was gross. I removed that with some Testors enamel thinner with no issues and it didn't harm the factory applied paint apps at all. I then used Tamiya's Dark Grey panel liner on it to good effect. I drilled out the tips of the cannons (which are far too thick but it's meant to be played with) and then spent most of my time fixing the canopy. The factory applied paint left the top of the canopy unpainted so it had an extra window, or "skylight" where there shouldn't be one at all and that gave the ship an odd and inaccurate appearance. I masked off the glass, sanded off the old paint except for where it was already misaligned and sprayed onto the glass and sprayed a mix of Vallejo Sky Grey mixed with a touch of Vallejo Sepia wash to warm up the tone and match it to the plastic. I mixed up a lighter blue for the canopy frame and then tinted the glass from the inside with Tamiya Smoke. I think it turned out fairly well for a toy. Of all the other MGS ships I've collected thus far, this one has been the most inaccurate. Since this is a very iconic ship I had to fix it. I hope you guys can enjoy it too. I have the Ban Dai 1/72 X-Wing on the shelf waiting for my return. This project helped me realize where I'd like to proceed with that model and I think I'm going to try a more movie accurate take on the finish now. Thanks for taking a look. Enjoy your day!

Pretty cool! Definitely a nice looking toy with your weathering and modifications. The Bandai one is excellent. I had a blast building that one.

Pretty cool! Definitely a nice looking toy with your weathering and modifications. The Bandai one is excellent. I had a blast building that one. I have the version with Rey, but it still includes Luke with it and R2 and R5's domes, but no bodies. I'm not a huge fan of the new Star Wars movies because there are just too many issues with them, but the kit is excellent so far. I also built the R2/BB8 kits and found them to be just as excellent. I am looking forward to finishing the kit, but I've been undecided about how I wanted to finish it until now. What size is this? Do the wings open? The wings do open. I have a comparison pic with the old Action Fleet X-Wing. As to the scale? I have no idea. It measures out to 137mm Long (nose to thruster) by 120mm Wide. Because this is a toy line the scales vary from ship to ship and inaccuracies are common in dimensions. Still fun to "swoosh" around though lol.

I have that kit, I took rey out and through her in the trash where she belongs.
