I sometimes think I have the attention span of a flea. Which likely does my model building no favors. So I painted the yellow on my Lola and then I was rearranging some totes with kits in them (to see if there was room for any more) and this little beauty caught my eye. Another horrible F1 car and I’m somewhat underwhelmed by their driver lineup but it is a looker. So I decided this was my next choice for our little group build here. Typical early 90s F1 goodness in the box. Decals are trash. I have acquired a brand new old stock set dated “Tamiya 1993” from Japan and they are gorgeous. Who knows if they’ll work though. We shall find out together once I get going on this.

Kyle,
Looking forward to following your build on the Lotus 107B. Hard to believe that it's 10 years newer then my Tamiya Williams Fw07 kit I just started.

Ya this is another one of those Tamiya early 90's F1 gems no doubt - I've had the kit twice and about 5 different decal sheets but sold both kits as I never got to them - I will follow closely with great interest on this build my friend - a beauty for sure!

Damn you guys pullin' out all these open wheel kits I don't have in the stash. I must resist the temptation. Must resist....
Meanwhile a battle rages in my mind.

Kyle, Looking forward to following your build on the Lotus 107B. Hard to believe that it's 10 years newer then my Tamiya Williams Fw09 kit I just started. Joel I thought about the Williams as well. I already have decals for it too. But then this Lotus caught my eye. Thanks. I’ll likely start on once I finish my nephews F14 LOTUS is an ancromyn...Lots Of Trouble Usually Seroius, LOL. This is going to be an awesome GB given the talent signed up. Lol. Hard to believe they were a super successful constructor with how things went at the end. The end of the F1 team lines up with their known reliability on the road. Haha Ya this is another one of those Tamiya early 90's F1 gems no doubt - I've had the kit twice and about 5 different decal sheets but sold both kits as I never got to them - I will follow closely with great interest on this build my friend - a beauty for sure! Thanks Adrian!! It’ll be a fun one. I also really like the 1992 livery but for me the 93 is my preference. I like the white bits. Just like on the 102 when it was white and British racing green. Very pretty. Very slow. Damn you guys pullin' out all these open wheel kits I don't have in the stash. I must resist the temptation. Must resist....
Meanwhile a battle rages in my mind.
Go find them and buy them!! Lol!! You know you want to. That's a great looking livery. Good luck on the build Kyle! Thanks! Should be fun.

Smart move grabbing the aftermarket decals bud - a must with these 90's releases for sure.

Got most of the body pieces glued together and cleaned up a bit. Quick dry fit to see how everything lined up. No complaints about that.

The fit looks great, but it still looks like something from a scifi alien invasion movie. This is gonna look sick when all put together.

They all looked so different and really had some great paint schemes. This was definitely a great looking car for sure.

Kyle, That huge combo engine cover and air intake does fit quite good. Hoping that the rest of the parts do the same.

I don’t have much experience with these particular subjects / models, so I’m coming along for the ride to watch it all come together. Looks like you’re off to a good start already. And I’ll say this, the lines on that body are sexy!

That is some exception work with some massive decals Kyle. The engine and transmission/suspension are coming together great!

Getting decals to conform to odd shapes is a nightmare. Your work looks awesome. Keep the pics coming.

OMG!! You're the frickin' MAN for tackling those decals Kyle. I mean.......you're doing a great job of it but like you......I'd rather paint the decaled color portions of the car than to deal with those cals. Looking pret..ty dang spiffy pal.

Kyle, Outstanding decaling for sure. Getting those rather thick Tamiya decals to conform to those compound curves is a feat in itself. The entire decaling to date looks great.
The engine/tans & rear wing support is looking real good.

WOW - how did I miss this one? Great progress and man what an extensive decal sheet - looking at it you paint the body gloss white and the rest is decal? And that is some livery.

That is some exception work with some massive decals Kyle. The engine and transmission/suspension are coming together great! Thank you!! The decals are going to be the majority of the stress on this build for sure. Getting decals to conform to odd shapes is a nightmare. Your work looks awesome. Keep the pics coming. Gallons of decal solvent will be used for this, no doubt. Lol. Thank you. OMG!! You're the frickin' MAN for tackling those decals Kyle. I mean.......you're doing a great job of it but like you......I'd rather paint the decaled color portions of the car than to deal with those cals. Looking pret..ty dang spiffy pal. Thank you! These big decals are going to be a chore but I’m hoping they go ok. Kyle, Outstanding decaling for sure. Getting those rather thick Tamiya decals to conform to those compound curves is a feat in itself. The entire decaling to date looks great. The engine/tans & rear wing support is looking real good. joel Joel, thank you! At first I thought I just had two sets of Tamiya decals but I think this sheet I’m using may be a high quality copy of Tamiya’s sheet. They seem to be a bit thinner than the normal kit decals and not as glossy. But the register is excellent and they are die-cut very close to the edges which is nice. I managed to melt the other side of the green air box decal with solvaset but I think I can salvage it. More soon. WOW - how did I miss this one? Great progress and man what an extensive decal sheet - looking at it you paint the body gloss white and the rest is decal? And that is some livery. Thanks John! Snuck it in here while I was deciding what to do on the Lola. And yes that’s decal sheet is pretty nuts. So exactly as you say, a gloss white paint job and straight into decals. I think it’ll look nice though if I don’t bugger it up too bad.

Hey Kyle!
Amazing progress on this bad boy already!
Man its interesting to see how each body for these 90's F1 cars are created differently by Tamiya when it comes to there molds and where the divides occur. That large front chassis break is crazy - but you have fit everything together nicely - it's always the 1st big hurdle to get the main body pieces together cleanly and solidly and you look like you achieved that nicely
The decal work looks very clean so far and coming along nicely indeed.
Such a sexy body shape this Lotus was that's for sure - can't wait to see how this beauty comes together. Engine is coming along nicely Kyle!
Love that copper Gear box color and some nice metal finishes you have going there.
Following Thanks Adrian!! Fit on the body pieces was very nice, no complaints there at all. Now just to get through the decals. And I just love to use varying metallic shades on engines and gearboxes.
