Had my usual late summer loss of interest. Kept looking at it and was "meh later". Another road block is I keep wavering about how far I want to go with extra details. Finally settled somewhere between OOB and super detailed and will just be adding some control cables, wires and fuel lines without worrying about things like steering linkage (it has nothing), better exhaust, etc.

Glad to see that your modeling interests with the change of season is coming back. Looking forward to seeing how your Kart turns out as I was a "big time" Enduro karter way, way back in the 1970's when we ran on race car tracks.
As for a summer slump, at least for me I've got other interests and one other full time hobby of model railroading, which I neglect to some degree during the summer as the basement gets kind of warmish even though the house is air conditioned, and just not comfortable to spend much time down there.

Black wash on some parts to make details pop and tone down chrome on wheels. Floor panel BMF with a wash.

tcoat, your black wash really makes a huge difference. joel Thanks. I black wash pretty much everything I paint. It gives simulated shadows and makes detail show up that you just do not get in a monotone paint job.

The wash was still a bit wet when I took the picture so the black inside the rim was a bit glossy. Looks more like shadow once it dries. There are of course the chrome center hubs to go on once mounted but those will get a wash as well to knock down the toy chrome look.

Coming along nicely. Brings back memories of karting with my kids. Autoclub speedway used to have a great outdoor track and you could rent 50mph basic karts all the way up to 120mph shifter karts. Shame it closed down.

Very cool Tony! You get the tiny open wheel group build award. Tiny is right. It fit's perfectly in the truck it came with.

Excellent!! You did a great job and OOB is perfect for this little guy. Lord knows the karts were simple enough anyways. And I love it in the bed of the truck. Makes me want to build mine. Soon maybe. So many kits…

Excellent!! You did a great job and OOB is perfect for this little guy. Lord knows the karts were simple enough anyways. And I love it in the bed of the truck. Makes me want to build mine. Soon maybe. So many kits… It was weird. I had amassed a couple of dozen reference pics, completely installed the plug wires, had the fuel line on the bottom of the tank, cut a piece of guitar E string for throttle cable and the model spoke to me and said "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?". Maybe would have worked if the kit was a bit more refined but with the level of detail OOB the rest just seemed out of place. It has a certain charm just as it is. After seeing it in pictures I may still shove some small rod in the tops of the engines as plugs since I already have holes drilled and am going to look through my decals for a white number and some placards for engine data plates but it ends there. If built to actually go in the truck I would use the racks that have it sit on top of the bed sides so it could be seen. Would look really cool with some tools and junk in the bed underneath it. I may pick up another some day and do it together with the truck stock and the kart in the same colour but as you said "soooo many kits". The funny part is that I bought this whole kit simply to get the engine and seat for another project and it just sort of organically evolved from there with zero planning or forethought. For the newer guys the whole story on this kit is here: modelerssocialclub.proboards.com/thread/13945/amt-chevy-fleetside-pickup-restomod

I think your approach to the go-cart is perfect! It really does look great in the pickup box.
