THE DOOMED PANZER



I have been working on this for the past couple weeks. I was so close to the finish line with it when I joined up that I opted not to create a build thread about it, but whatever. Here’s my progress thus far.

i opted for a fairly clean paint job, with the foil of relying on oil paints, and various pin washes, sludge washes, dot filters, and also pigments, for weathering.

I still have the tracks to paint and attach, and the tools. After that some subtle dry brushing, and likely more pigments here and there.

Firstly, thank you sir!! I appreciate that.

Now, as to the base… I’m definitely making a diorama for my Panzer IV X Exorcist build, but hadn’t planned on doing a base for this tank. That said, when I consider it, I think building a small base for this one, a modest desert scene with some terrain would be a nice way to display it. Something that could fit on a small shelf. And I think that would be a really good way to go- starting small before attempting the bigger one for the Panzer IV.

Some good weathering and paint going on with this build Kenny. I've often thought about doing an armor project but have so many auto and aircraft kits that I'm afraid that if I start building armor, all of the kits in my stash will remain there.

Thank you guys so much. I’ve entered a place here where I’m totally out of my comfort zone, working with the pigments and all. I appreciate the kind words because I totally lack confidence in this area- having never really made it this far before. So I’m trying to accept this phase of the learning process, not be overly critical with myself, and trust that the refinements will come later on as I keep doing builds. In the meantime your encouragement helps me a whole lot.

I can see the finish line. I believe this tank will likely be completed by either the end of this week, or early next week at the very latest.

So here we are, painting the various tools and other sundry bits and bobs, and the tracks. I’m using the kit supplied rubber band tracks for this build. Maybe in the future I’ll get some of those fruil tracks and upgrade it. For the time being, in the interests of “Just see the damn build through to completion” I’m doing it OOB.

Well it’s official, we’ve entered the home stretch. Just a little more pigments, and the finishing touches to go!

All that’s left is the pigment on the tracks, which I’ll likely do today, and then I recon I’ll call it done, shoot some nice photos to post, and then find a nice space on my shelf for this one. That’ll free up my attention for my Panzer IV X Exorcist mashup.
