Have been checking out all your superb hobby rooms, man cave photo's. I have just about finished converting my garage into a hobby room, now after looking at your excellent work area's I,m starting to think about airbrush spraying extraction. I do have a portable Graphic air system by hobby air cleaners but would like some more advice on better ways & weather I should extract the bad air to the outside. cheers Gary

Like Boo says, the cleaner you keep the air around you the better

Defo get them fumes out bud.................if ya can smell it...............ya inhaling/ingesting it!!!!!!!! Another good bet is to get one of the decent respirator masks as well (3M do them and i dare say there are many other companies that supply them................check E-bay as they do them on there!!, just make sure ya get one for vapour tho!! ),if you have a good extraction system going out to fresh air you won`t necessarily need to wear both for Acrylics but some of the enamel/oil based paints give off a much more powerful smell............even with a booth!!!

Thank's for the info, looks like I'll be drilling a big 5" hole to the outside for the extraction pipe & fan. Been also checking out hood designs on the web, I think I can make something up out of some glav/steel & a pop rivit gun. I'll also check out the face masks , didn't think of that ........ thanks again

Hi ya Gary!! Hey!!! What's wrong with smelling the fumes!!!! Favorite past time out here!! LOL!!! All seriousness, Yes, vent! Try the mask...quick and dirty!! If you can get a 3 or 4 inch dryer hose venting out the side wall or even a window, go for it!! Solvents are great with paints, but, suck with the lungs!!! Let us know how you make out!!

I have a spray booth that vents to the outside plus a bathroom-style extraction fan in the cieling for my paint area and I still wear a paint breather-mask as a precaution. Thinner fumes are nasty stuff and it's not widely known that expsoure has a "cumulative" effect over time...so care should always be exercised!
