This is the Hobby Boss 1/48 Grumman F4F-3 Early model. I'm doing it as a pre Pearl Harbor U.S. Mainland Neutrality Patrol plane. I've heard there are rivet issues, the wrong magneto caps (?) and and a brace in the glazing area. tough nuggies! I'm happy to have an early one to build without a massive career conversion. Here is the cockpit assembly with only Eduard WWII USN seat belts added. The firewall is assembled and just need weathering around oil tank and bike chains for the operation of the landing gear. The radial is assembled just need ignition cables added and light weathering dome.
So far what little I've assembled the kit seems very nice . . .but this is only the second a/c I've built since 1998.

You're off to a great start. Nothing wrong with going what's with in the box and on ly adding things like the missing seatbelt.

Haven't posted 2 up dates OOPS It was a it of a thought process to get the tub assembly and fuselage halves to play nice but here is the photos. The wings fit almost prefect, biggest hassle was keeping the tail hook in place and free to slide in and out,

This is coming together quite nicely Paul. To me, the challenge with these Wilcat builds has always been the landing gear. When I was a kid, I built the Monogram version of this aircraft and I can remember it being a challenge on that kit. lol Lookin' good potna.

Having built the F3F-1 and The Gulf Hawk the first having ended up as in flight gear up ,the second with multi patched gear parts. We learned to assemble as much as you can with the part brace that holds the gear still attached to the sprue. I remember the Monogram Gulf Hawk gear that worked when you moved the prop. I made many broken parts with that . . even one blade on the propeller

I have never seen the Gulf Hawk landing gear / prop operation. That must've been pretty dang cool for its day. Sounds as cool as the Monogram Dauntless that had just about every working feature that could be put into a model. 'Member that one?
