Odorless turpenoid. I have also just started using Zippo lighter fluid. It evaporates very quick and doesn't seem to get into the plastic. Still trying it out though. Literally just used it the first time on a Bandai kit yesterday. But I've read tons of good things about it. Good to know, let me know how it goes after testing if you don't mind. My stash of Bandai models has grown recently (damn you Hobby Lobby and your 40% off) so I would like to avoid future catastrophes.

Note to self: If you're going to weather with oils and mineral spirits on Bandai plastic... make sure you get good primer or clear coverage on the previous layers because they are NOT friends. Had some feet pads fall off because it got brittle. Nothing I can't overcome, but I wish I knew that ahead of time. Oh rat farts!!! The Bandai splitting plastic strikes again. I would really like to get a straight answer from them as to why they continue to use this particular styrene. I’d bet money that it’s down to cost. No other manufacturer has the same problem. Nevertheless, your fallen AT-AT dio is looking great! “Lord Vader, the shield should be down in moments. You may commence your landing. Lord Vader? Um sir? Hello?”

This is REALLY cool. Really nice work with the terrain and sculpting it around the walker .

I just love scenes like this anyway and then I get to see it all come to life in your modeling of it. Dude……you’re indeed showing us jurist how it’s done bud. Excellent work on this!!!

It's looking great! I've heard that Bandai plastic doesn't like anything on it. Makes me worried about painting them. Although I haven't had problems with any of the Star Wars kits.

Brilliant!! This is looking so good. The ground is awesome and the walker looks perfectly sad in its collapsed state.

The build up of the base around the walker convincingly looks like it nosed into the ground. The weathering on the walker is equally impressive!

I love the groundwork you did, the weathering, the (excellent) posing, the cable wrapped around its legs. It’s all very convincing. I’d be proud of what you did. I think it’s cool as all heck. And hey, who says there has to be snow. This could be staged on another part of the planet, during a different season, or a different planet even. But I hear you about snow and scale. That has been my experience as well. Maybe someone here has a solution.
Really nice work. Thanks for sharing your build!

What a fantastic finish! The added cable is a great addition! With the fabulous ground work you crafted on the base it would have been a shame to cover with snow anyways. I don't think you overdid the weathering as it really works with the entire scene.

Really nicely done. I did snow way back using micro baloons and liked the effect - but heck that base looks just awesome after the thaw

This is so cool! I saw the progress pics and thought "needs some blaster marks". And voila blaster marks appeared! The cables are sublime. You did not over do the weathering one little bit. They were more scruffy looking than you would expect Imperial equipment to be but that was probably so detail would show on screen.

This is some really REALLY good work, Tony. I'm with the others in saying that you didn't overdo anything from a weathering standpoint and that this has been one good thread to follow along with. You've managed to pull off one heckuva build here bud.

HOLY SMOKES IT'S TONY!
Sorry I missed the WIP stage of this one. Dang. Talk about a killer build. Did you reference adding snow earlier?
Glad to see you back! 😁

What a splendid turn out with this build Tony. What I like most about this whole thing is the way you brought it to life as the whole layout just looks exactly how it looked on the big screen. This has got to be some of the best work I've seen in this genre.

I did reference snow but I couldnt find any product that I liked. I was repacking some of my boxes in the basement last week and found some of my old snow so I might do something in the future.
