I've been working on the Tamiya 1/48 F-16C off and on for a couple of months, and finally got it to the point where I could start painting. It's not a bad kit; more accurate than the Hasegawa F-16C, but all of the extra panels they use to make up different block #s makes for a lot of extra Mr Surfacer and a little putty. It will be the former Texas ANG jet in Vietnam-style Southeast Asia camouflage. It's now serving with the 354th Wing with an AK tail code, which I'm using just to be different. All they did when the jet was transferred was repaint the tail. Even the original crew names were left on. I don't have those, so I'm using a little artistic license and assuming they were painted out at some point. I'll be using decals from Caracal, some of the kit decals, and some tail codes from an old Repliscale sheet. The only other aftermarket I'm using is a very nice 3D printed seat from Mini Craft Collection. You can also sort of see the primed Tamiya Mazda 787b in the background.  Ben |

Great work on the airframe here Ben. It’s looking really nice. And the Mazda, one of my favorites. I’ll look forward to seeing that one too.

I hear you on all of the extra panels and making it difficult in terms of sanding and puttying Ben. I've always been a fan of the F-16 since I was a kid so I'll be watching this one buddy. Some good work going into this.
