***WARNING: PHOTO HEAVY***
OK plastic mashers, I am happy to say that the Jugs are done! Both are painted with Alclad, AK Real Colors, MM and Testors enamels. Both have Eduard wheels and Master Model blast tubes and pitots. The Escuadron 201 is weathered with oils and pastels. Its decals are from Aztec Decals. Kwitcherbitchin 7th's decals are from the old Superscale sheet. It's weathered with the salt technique. Lets take a look, shall we? First, the Escuadron 201 is in honor of my late father, and this was my inspiration: Here's what I cranked out: (That's for you, Viejo.) Now, here's how Kwitcherbitchin 7th turned out: Honestly, I'm not 100% happy with the results, but they look pretty good on the shelf next to my other 3-footers. I'd love to hear what you think. All comments, questions, and criticisms are welcome. Please drop your two cents into the bucket on your way out. Thanks for lookin'! -O

Well, I’m not sure what you’re not happy with because I think they both look awesome! We’re always our own worst critics. I love the weathering approach to both. Both techniques have gotten awesome results. I also really like both liveries. The clean livery of the 201 plane really brings out the look of the plane and the big colors and look of Kwitcherbitchin just looks too cool. Awesome results.

Those are two great looking P-47s ‘O’. Great to be able to have family history inspire a build!

Wow, O! Those look amazing! Excuse my lack of experience here, but how do you create the faded appearance? Is it a wash of some kind?

Hey gang, thanks for reviving this ol' thread. The compliments and kudos are much appreciated! Wow, O! Those look amazing! Excuse my lack of experience here, but how do you create the faded appearance? Is it a wash of some kind? Hey James, I used two different weathering techniques on the builds. I used the salt weathering technique on Kwitcher, and I used oils on the Mexican bird. Both were eventually sprayed with Alclad's flat which gives a dead flat, almost dusty finish. If there's anything else I can answer for ya, please don't hesitate to ask.' Again, thanks for lookin' and thanks for the pats on the back! Cheers! -O

These two turned out to be true gems of a build Omar. Painting and weathering take center stage on this duo.
Love your work man.

Beautiful build!! Just wandering about those red-white-green marks on the prop and the triangle on the wing...they look like a Hungarian colours and the triangle is a sign of Hungarian air force. Is this coincidental or is there a connection?

Hey castelnuovo,
Thanks for dropping by and sharing your comments. I think the similarities in markings are a coincidence. The markings on my build are for the Mexican Air Force. The Hungarian AF uses the same colors in a triangular format, but they are different.
Again, thanks to everyone for looking and the pats on the back.
Cheers! -O

Beautiful work O, these are just sweet, both of them! I really like the fine finish you have achieved on these, the delicate panel lines, the subtle weathering and the fine detailing all make these show worthy builds. Details like the weighted wheels add so much to the look of them too, well done. Cheers TJ
