Nunu 1/24 1986 Lancia Delta S4 (Sanremo Rally)

Ok so with the Lola complete and a good jump on the Lotus decals I pulled this one out of the stash. Adding some fenders back in for a minute. I LOVE Deltas. Any and all Deltas. And I love rally racing. Group B being the coolest of all. This S4 was campaigned by a privateer team and took second in the ‘86 Sanremo rally. Another livery entirely made up of decals (I really need to palette cleanse with a solid color livery. 🤦🏻‍♂️😂) So I went ahead and got the body cleaned up and white painted. Start on the other bits soon.

Bookmarked! Speaking of rally cars the Ojibwe Forests Rally is happening in MN August 22-24. Should be a big crowd as Pastrana will be there this year.

Cool subject with a wild livery!

Nunu has some of the best decals I’ve ever seen from a manufacturer. I think SK Decals might be involved in their design. I’m just guessing based on what’s in their PlayStation M6 GT3 kit and how SK seems to get preview kits before anyone else. The complex livery on the first issue of their M8 GTE fit perfectly.

Of course, I immediately went to Google to look up NuNu and am drooling over their website and wouldn't ya know it.. I own one of them HA! The BMW E30 ’88 SPA 24 HOURS WINNER.

I'm excited, I've only had good experiences with NuNu so far. At the moment I have the Audi A4 on the table. I should get on with it......... The garden is more important at the moment.......

Excellent events Brent. I’ve been to the Ohio Forest Rally and it is one of the coolest things ever. Ken Block (RIP) and Travis Pastrana were there in factory Subarus. I have a picture somewhere of Block following us back to parc ferme after a round. Have to see if I can dig some pics up of that event.

Thanks! And that’s great to hear! I’ve built the Platz/nunu McLaren MP4/2 but that’s it. I’d love to get some more of their kits like some of BMWs and things like that.

Thanks James. It does look like a great kit. And nunu has some great subject matter. That E30 is one I’d love to build.

Yeah John, I think the front has a flip nose mechanism and the rear engine cover just lifts right off. But it’s got some detail in all areas so we’ll see how it goes.

I looked up this kit and its detail looks to build up quite nice. I could see where you might want to leave those areas viewable.

Yes indeed. They seem to have included a fair amount of detail throughout. Hopefully I can do it some justice.

I have put the last of the decals on the Lotus…at least for now. There will be an update on it soon. In the meantime, Just started sticking some subassemblies together on this. Positive locating pins on a lot of parts and also many of the parts are under-gated, so that is a very nice piece of engineering. And some pretty nice details molded in too. I have to gather up some reference photos for this so I can start putting some paint on thing soon. And no doubt I’ll embark on another glacially slow decal experience.

That IS an extensive amount of decals that you'll be working with alright. Dang it Kyle......you ARE a glutton for punishment on the cals! lol

Of to a great start on this car and looking forward to seeing what you do here with this.

Just found your latest build and will have to check why I didn't get notification of it. I'm not a rally fan as all the racing I grew up with was some type of track related.

the kit being from the NuNu/Platz family is certainly top shelf in design and detail molding. Same for the decals. I've built several NuNu and Platz kits and loved them. Their decals rival any AM ones I've ever used.

The 3 piece body with should really be fun. Looking forward to how you're going to go about it.

The Lotus decals have been battling back so I’m going to need a decal redemption tour. Chose this one. lol. Thanks Joe.

Somewhat amusingly both kits from the nunu family that I have acquired so far are actually Beemax toolings. So I still have no experience with nunu engineering. Looking through the instructions I don’t see a reason for the 3 piece body to be an issue. It all fits together nicely and seems to be well thought out. Thanks for checking it out Joel, even though it’s not a Rally fan!

A few years ago Beemax, NuNu, and Platz had their own lines of kits, but then out of the blue NuNU and Platz are one, and somehow I'm pretty sure that Beemax just may be the parent company.

I know they boxed that McLaren MP4/2 I built also. I’ve never really been clear on those companies relationship as they seem to all just sort of pass the tooling around. But that’s ok. I’ll build them no matter the name on the box.

the White color coat looks pretty darn good. And the decaling is really shaping up to another great job. Getting them to properly flow from one section to the next isn't easy, but you make it look like a walk in the park.

Ha. I didn’t intend to embark on another giant decal project but it had been too long for me since I’d done a rally car. I absolutely love them too.

Got the black side trim painted, orange rear mudflaps painted and orange front lip painted. Top decals are also complete. Not perfect but good enough to work with.
