I've been keeping my printer busy with stuff for my model bench. I printed out a bunch of Gridfinity 1x1 bins with holes varying from 8mm to 44mm. I wanted to see the best sizes for various bottles (Paint, Glue, etc.). I have several Ikea Alex drawer units for which I am currently printing Gridfinity grids. My goal is to create a modular system for my workbench so I can easily reconfigure it to the task at hand. Customizable configurations for Building, Hand Painting, Airbrushing, Soldering, Photo Etch work, etc... If you are unfamiliar with Gridfinity, it is a 3D printable and infinitely customizable organization system. I have visions of creating various Gridfinity compatible "bins" specifically for modelers. There are already quite a few modeling-related Gridinfinity models available; however, they aren't a "system." GridfinityThis video by the inventor of Gridfinity will give you a good idea of the concept. This is a picture of a Gridfinity grid in one of the drawers of an Ikea Alex. There are also some bins I printed to hold my airbrush clips, some syringes and pipettes. These are some of the 1x1 bins I printed with different hole sizes. Some Gridfinity bins I printed to hold various sizes of M3 bolts which are commonly used to assemble complex 3D prints. I also printed a bracket to hold my Proxxon transformer out of the way under my bench. Link to Model on ThangsAnd a mount to hold a box of Kleenex Towels, which I keep handy on the bench. Now they won't take up precious real estate on the bench. Link to Model on Printables3D printing is fun. If you are sitting on the fence about getting a 3D printer, do it; you won't regret it. PS: This is a really good model for a glue bottle holder. In your slicer software, you can combine these to form 2, 3, and 4 bottle holders. I prefer the sloped design to the traditional flat designs you typically see. Model on Makerworld

Nice! I have the grid system prints too. I plan to build a new tool box with all of these containers inside. Very cool, Brian! Also, I love that glue bottle holder. Im going to have to try that. Did it require supports during printing?

Nice! I have the grid system prints too. I plan to build a new tool box with all of these containers inside. Very cool, Brian! Also, I love that glue bottle holder. Im going to have to try that. Did it require supports during printing? I printed it on its side and used organic tree supports with a .2mm Z clearance between the support and the model. It came out great and they detached with no issue. It printed in 1H 27M and used 37g of PLA filament. I used Anycubic's gray PLA, which sells for $13 on Amazon. That puts the cost of the print at about $.81. I've found anything less than .2mm Z distance and I have to work to get the supports off. When I printed that skull, I used a Z clearance of .12, which was the same as my layer height. I figured if it works great when I print at a .2mm layer height with a .2mm z clearance, I should keep the Z clearance equal to the layer height. Bad choice. I couldn't get some of the supports to detach. They were firmly bonded to the model. I broke them off as close as possible and used a rotary tool with a bur to remove them. That was great for the hidden supports but not so good for the visible connection points. I couldn't get some of the support material from between the teeth.
