Most of you know I like AMMO paints and use them more than anything. But I have been recently experimenting with - gasp - enamels and also lacquers.
I've got some planned auto related builds in the near future, and I've been debating what brand and type of paint I'd like to use. Seriously have been considering lacquers but the new AMMO Cobra lines seems to be pretty impressive, with some lacquer type properties from what I've read, even though the paint is still water and not alcohol based.
I know it's still hard to find here, but I always order from AMMO direct anyway and shipping is not bad at all to the states from Spain. (they also now stock and sell Mr. Color products too which is great news).
So what auto guys here @msc have any real experience with this paint? I'd love some feedback.

Andy’s has the Ammo Cobra paints in the shop. But I haven’t tried them yet.

I saw those for sale and have also wondered how they are. I live in lacquers and alcohol based acrylics so anything water based is usually out for me. But it’s a nice line for Ammo to add

I'm an armor builder in the first place and only learned about them recently from the book "How to paint scale cars", also from AMMO, which I can recommend. They surely sound interesting and the results in the book look magnificent.

If what I've seen and read is correct, these could be more great paint options for builders.

Got the Modern Fighters and Luftwaffe sets when they came out . This paint is amazing IMO ! I did a write up on it here a while back . Colors are good , Acrylic that sprays like Lacquer ( straight out of the bottle or can be thinned ), adhesion is supreme cleans up easily . Mig just came out with a new Atom Thinner with Retarder in it , makes the Atom Paint even more impressive . Haven't tried the Cobra paint yet .

Your experience sounds similar to online reviews I've read. I'm looking forward to trying these new paints out.

Just saw this Jack and I don't have any experience with that line of paints just yet. I'm still using MCW which is some totally smooth paint to apply.....especially with the slow drying thinner that I've got. I'll have to post pictures of that stuff later on.

I haven't tried them mostly cause I haven't seen them at my LHS. I do like the AK 3rd Gen acrylics for brush painting.

Joe I've heard good and bad with MCW. I hear they are pre thinned with some pretty hot lacquer thinners. Has quality slipped with new management? What's your experience?

That is a rumor that surfaced when Mike Guest moved from Ohio to North Carolina recently. But Mike acquired MCW many, many years ago and moved production to his hobby shop in Ohio at first. I actually spoke with him in person as I was over there for work and all paint and resin production has moved to NC with him. The only thing he sold was his hobby shop in Ohio not the paint line. He says all equipment and mixes remain the same as ever. I don’t know. Their lacquer line is hot but is perfectly fine over a primer. Their enamel line is pretty forgiving and dries quick for an enamel. I’ve used both several times.

I do use Mig AMMO paints, but not this line yet.
You can also get them here at my primary supplier
They do ship to the USA.

thanks for the link. It's cheaper for me to order direct from AMMO. But the more options to purchase the better for us

But I'll admit for my upcoming Smokey & The Bandit builds I'm tempted to try some MCW lacquers.
