This project started one morning when I took my 6 yo son with me to work. We started googling for Monster trucks, and I came across Samson's website. He builds a lot of the trucks that are used in Monster Jam, and his site was loaded with hi-res pics of the trucks in all stages of construction. After downloading like crazy, I felt like I had enough info to get started. I scratch built the chassis to match the 1:1 off of plans I drew out. Then things got complicated! I had to convert the body from a Dodge to a Chevy, find a way to make the arms, and then once I did make the arms, find a way to paint them. But it all worked out in the end. I ended up having to scratch build almost all of it to bring it up to the level and accuracy I felt it needed. I did all the body mods myself, paint work mostly by hand, and masks, and did all the decal art myself as well. It was one of the hardest models I've ever built, but totally worth it at the same time. If you look through the fotki albums, you can get a better idea of what all went into this thing. Lots of scratch building, machining, and detailing. Here's a shot of the real truck to give you an idea of what I was after.... And here's my beast, in 1/24 scale. WIP pics here.......http://public.fotki.com/ClayK/samson-4x4-monster-truck/ And with the body in place..... Thanks for looking! Clay

WOW Love it Clay !! ,Always admire your chassis work ...so neat ...so perfect ! Beautiful job on the body too . So ,Has your 6yr old son claimed it yet ;D ;D Chris. The people with Samson wanted to buy it........he said No Way!!! LOL I don't think it's going anywhere. Thanks for the replies guys! The braided lines are from a place called Pro Tech, and I use Detail Master fittings. A whole bunch of them to be exact! Clay
