James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5

Skip my ramblings to get to the photos.


Revell’s brand new “easy click” system is the basis of this kit. Including stickers and water slides. Lots of parts (122, I believe) and details for really young modelers but good for one wanting to go a step further than the simplest kits. Would be nice if they offered this as a standard DB5 but for now it’s James Bond’s car only with the ejector seat roof and bulletproof panel at the rear. That’s ok I grew up watching Bond re-runs so I figured it would be fun to have on the shelf. Well engineered snap kit with poseable steering and all the movie car bits and pieces, ejector seat button, rotating license plates, machine guns, etc, etc. No engine detail, at least not yet but they did include some engine bay details so you can either add one or maybe they’ll add it themselves later.

I started this kit on an out of state work trip to Ohio. No WIP thread then as I was mostly working. But then it ended up boxed up and nearly forgotten. lol. Remembered it and thought I should finish it.  Just brought a few basic tools and paints with me. So no additional details for me. Just straight out of the box, as it comes. I wanted to build it that way anyways to get a feel for the new easy click system as Revell seems to be elevating the automotive snap kit field with these kits. I came away mildly impressed. Perhaps it isn’t up to Bandai quality but it’s miles above most of the auto snap kits out there. I enjoyed it. If you read all that then thank you and I’m sorry. 😂. Here’s the photos.

You certainly wouldn’t know it was a snap kit by the pictures! It looks great, Kyle. For not being home or having a bench, it came out great. Very well done.

That turned out real fine! I can totally see Sean Connery or Daniel Craig sitting behind the wheel. Good to know the easy click kits are pretty good. :^)

I have the non-Bond version in my tiny stash - I paid a stoopid price for it on eBay before Revell announced they were releasing their version.

That's very nice work, regardless of being made out of a suitcase.

Enjoyed the pics as this car has some meaning to me too, but but for reasons different from most. I had (and played extensively with) the Corgi version as a little kid, and recently bought the re-release of same. You may have enticed me to add the Revell kit to my stash!

Thanks! Pretty solid little kit for a snap kit. The tractors and VW bus from this line look to be great too.

Thank you! I like this bond version but it would be cool to do a stock DB5 one day also

Thank you!! Yes sir. Fresh out of Revells new “easy click” line. Some in the line are older snap kits reboxed like the classic Snap F14 but the new tool easy click stuff realy packs in the detail.
