Stick that on a base with some desert groundwork and it's perfect. Can't wait to see how this moves forward.

LOL yeah it usually works that way that you think " man I should leave it this way, looks very cool". But then we do have to add some other colors. Looking forward to seeing the next update.

Thanks Dicky, but the big question is: how to paint the broken glass in the hatch? Maybe you have an idea?

Simply beautiful work Matt . Love the way you've built the paint layers up, gives so much depth to the finish.

Hi folks, after such a long time and a bad patch I am back. The last months I had no ideas for painting tanks, so I painted some minitures again, to get the head free. But here comes the next pictures of the Sherman. I changed many details on the complete tank. The rust effect was not perfect in my opinion. So I added some layers of pigments, which I washed down with white spirit. The AK-Interactive rust effects colours were also in use to get a better rusty look. I added the wheels and made the first rust effects, but I am not satisfied. So I will do some more detail work there. The biggest problem are the tracks. I have these "rubber tracks" and can`t find the right tracks for the M51 Super Sherman. Maybe someone has a tip for me? 5DMKII_18377 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr 5DMKII_18362 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr 5DMKII_18355 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr 5DMKII_18354 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr

@rob: Nice to see you here again and thanks for the comment. What do you think about the rust effect of the wheels? Is it too much? I am not sure. Great news, today I have ordered the right track for the shermie!! So I think I will finish it in the next days, weeks or months...

Wheels look ok to me. Once you add some dust pigs at the end things will tone down and blend in nicely.

Today the tracks and the base arrived. After a very long search and a kit with the wrong tracks, I found the M4 Sherman HVSS tracks from AFV club. These tracks fit really well on my M51 Super Sherman. Only under the fenders it`s a bit close to the upper wheels. To build these track you have to be a clock maker!! Nevertheless I made the first parts of the track. Tomorrow I will paint them. I started with the base, too. So I think in the next days, or weeks I will finish this model... 5DMKII_18428 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr 5DMKII_18430 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr 5DMKII_18433 von mad_airbrush auf Flickr
