Would a prewar interior be aluminum?

Cool! I'll be following. I have the GWH kit in the stash. Your interior looks great. Ya - I have a soft spot for the bird as well. The old monogram kit with the ground crew was one of my early 'good' models.

I've always had a soft spot for this aircraft as well kilo. As John () mentioned the only one available when we were younger was the older Monogram offering but I never got around to building that one. I always wanted it but back then in the small town of Bowie, Texas resources were limited to the Moses 5 and 10 cent store that we used to drive by on our trip to see my grandparents.
Good detail starting out on this one bud.

Would a prewar interior be aluminum? It could be Interior Green or Aluminum The earliest ones were aluminum lacquer, but later production ones had interior green. Even on Yellow Wing birds.

Would a prewar interior be aluminum? That’s the color it said to paint it.

Of course that kit, which I’m sure I did a piss poor job on anyway, didn’t survive childhood. But since then the Devastator has been a favorite of mine. Fast forward to a few years ago and I found a still in the plastic Monogram TBD kit on eBay. Think I paid like $60 or something like that for it. When it arrived the first thing I noticed was it had an old K-Mart price tag for like $6.00! Anyway, I here’s how that one turned out….

6-T-6 has an Interior Green cockpit 6-T-16 has what looks to be an Aluminum Lacquer cockpit from what these photos show.

That's funny because I can remember those kits costing right around that much (or should I say that little) back then. Nowadays those same kits are fetching a pretty penny for their nostalgic/ collector worth but I've still built one or two of them up despite their lack of interior detailing. Your Monogram rebuild turned out pretty dang good!

Looking good! I’ve been thinking of picking one of these up. I wish someone like Reskit would produce a correct twin gun mount. I have a spare twin gun from the Accurate Miniatures SBD, but it’s a later version.

When it arrived the first thing I noticed was it had an old K-Mart price tag for like $6.00! Anyway, I here’s how that one turned out…. Nostalgia!!! I recall building the old Monogram, somewhere around 85 or so. Picked it up for a few bucks at the PX at Ft. Leavenworth. I still remember riding my bike home with it....couldn't wait to get started! I slapped it together that afternoon/evening. The next day, my buddy and I brought our models out back, to play with them on the carrier (a random board). With the movable wings...I decided to fly my TBD like a bird...flap, flap, SNAP! Both wing sections tumbled to the ground. I think that seeded my deep rooted hatred for moving parts on models! Upon my return to the hobby in 09...the old TBD was on my list! Picked one up from a vendor table for $10. Scratched the interior, only a/m was a Squadron canopy. I was proud, at the time...now it's just kinda...meh. (Stik posted those same pics in my build thread at FSM) I'll post a couple pics later (Flickr is being a butt right now!)

Well, Flickr finally decided to take the pics! Here she be... If I still built in 48th, I'd do another. My skills and techniques have changed a bit in the last 15 years!

That's very nice indeed. You did a good job of the interior.
I like Hobbyboss kits, they do get some stick in regards to accuracy etc. but I've always found them rather enjoyable builds.

Lot's of progress! Looking good too. Thanks! As far as construction goes, all I have left is the canopy and horizontal stabilizers. After that the top decals and she’s done.

I missed the last few updates on this build but you're doing a rock-solid job on it so far Jimmy. Love all of the detailing that you're putting into this one. I couldn't help but notice the numbered masking stickers for the canopy. That is a good feature of these kits with as many windowpanes as these aircraft have.
