Well, this was an unplanned build. A buddy of mine texted me. He doesn’t build many race cars and never has built an open wheel car. He got his hands on an 88C kit. Kraco boxing in his case. Anyways, he asked if I wanted to sort of do a buddy build with him. Just over texting sharing photos. So I agreed and dug out my only 88C. So I hope you guys will forgive me for building another AMT Indycar. I already had decals from Indycals stashed away. I always liked Raul Boesel. He was quick, sometimes quicker than anyone. 1993 comes to mind. The Simon/Duracell Lola was the class of the field for much of that year but Raul could never seal the deal on even one win. For 1988 he joined the Shierson racing team and the Dominos Pizza Hot One. Started out racing the March 88C but by the time May rolled around it was clear that the Lola was far superior. They did trot the March out early in May but it was rubbish so they actually bought a brand new Lola off AJ Foyt and qualified and raced that to 7th place in the 500. The March went into mothballs and they raced the Lola the rest of the year.

Kyle, I already bookmarked your Buddy Build. Looking forward to seeing you work your magic on these AMT kits. And speaking of AMT kits, I not only found my two kits, but the Indy Cal decals I bought for them a long time ago.
Right now I'm just starting another open wheel kit for the GB and taking my time with it. it's the original release from Ebbro/Tamiya Lotus 49, so I'm hoping that the decals are still ok, but odds are I'll get a set from Indy Cals.

Long been a favorite of mine.

I’ll be looking forward to watching your build! I really like the 80s Indy cars. I need some inspiration to finish the 86C I started several years ago. Indycals has decals for your friend’s Krako March. The kit decals are rubbish; the yellow is almost transparent. Here’s the Indycals link: LINKBen

As you may have noticed, I have a large soft spot for these 80s Indycars. I just think they had so many great looking liveries and the chassis were all sharp too. Already steered Larry in the direction of Indycals and he has a fresh set for his build! What a great idea. You should get your buddy to provide build pics, too. Thanks Lyle! And you’re right. That’s a great idea. I have mentioned this place to him before. I’ll have to see if I can get him to join up or at least be ok with me sharing his build photos.

Kyle, My generation will really didn't call it a Rocket Pop although the Ice Cream trucks did have the triple flavored Ice Pop. To me it's always going to be the Domino car, and your paint job certainly does it justice.

Ok, more progress. Cockpit installed, 90% of the decals finished. Super quick and simple decals this time. Still have a few small ones and the rear wing to do. Engine is just mocked up here to see how the engine cover is going to go. Very pleased with how that is looking.

Looking forward to how the gloss coat kicks it up a few notches. joel Thanks again Joel!! Maybe not many notches Joel. I plan to do my usual light dusting just to knock the matte off the Indycals decals. You guys know I don’t shoot for that show car shine, although I do appreciate seeing it from you all!!

Another small update. Shot some gloss on just to seal the decals. Happy with it. Mocked up the stance. Everything seems to be working out. Not much longer now.
