Man you've got more stones than I do in tackling a naval project Tony and you've put on one heckuva show with this one. I've gotta say that this is definitely inspirational because I don't recall you ever building a ship before. Thanks Joe,yeah I've got quite a few ships in my collection, even have a Graf Spee build floating around here,I just build them basic and simple without weathering or PE

Well,I got all 11 planes of the air wing completed, the only thing left to do is to assemble 11 of those teeny-weeny PE aircraft trolleys, they are tedious, but I expect to get them done before 10/31.I really would have settled for the little solid blocks of plastic as you can barely see these under the planes.

Oh wow those look great Tony. What in the world do you use to see these tiny birds??? Just great. If you get rigging on the biplane you'll win modeler of the year

The aircraft look stellar Tony! The trolleys look like a challenge.

Great job Tony. Really came out nice - and the air wing just adds a ton of detail. Man I'd like to watch video of launch and recover given that ships configuration. And the birds sat up on deck all the time I assume. Was there some conveyer system to move the planes up to the derricks? Fascinating story being a cruiser heavily bombed at Midway and reborn as a carrier. Well done!

Fascinating story being a cruiser heavily bombed at Midway and reborn as a carrier. Well done! All those little photoetch carriages he had to bend rolled on tracks on the deck. The tracks are molded on the kit a bit overscale but you would hardly see them if in scale. No stats seem to exist but if the same system was used as the Tone they could have an aircraft launched every 5 minutes and recovered every 8.

It's the "glassless" canopy frames that attract me. They even do these in 1/700 scale! I have a friend who is a hard-core 1/700 IJN ship modeler, and he has bought into these 3-D printed planes in a big way.

I have a friend who is a hard-core 1/700 IJN ship modeler, and he has bought into these 3-D printed planes in a big way. in 1/350 the aircraft are so small that the canopy frames look great with just the decals. The frames my look slightly better but I don't think I could ever live with those 8 inch in scale rivets on the 3D ones though. These are the decal canopies on the Seirans from the I-400 sub. Up close they show as solid but from even a short distance away they look right in scale. The panel lines are a bit heavy but there are no pie pan sized rivets!

Thanks,I got it from a French guy from Ohio, the company was called Gemo,he used to advertise in the FSM magazine, wasn't cheap but he build them to order and gave a cd with instructions how to build,no screws, glue or hardware, easy to install,I even disassembled and reassembled for my move, unfortunately,he retired a few years ago.
