Model Factory Hiro Kits, where do you buy?

Seems there are some MFH builders and fans here. Can you share where you buy your kits?

Any info on average time to receive special orders and/or general tips or experiences appreciated as well.

Order direct Greg. It’s the best way. Normally they give you a discount for ordering direct as well. Skip the middle man. They’re an awesome company to deal with and you’ll have your kit nearly as soon as they’re finished cranking them out.

Thanks, Kyle. Here's a couple of follow up questions.

1. By direct, do you mean from Hiroboy or the MFH website itself? (the MHF site, at least the one I found today, is in Japanese)

2. And how about this... I stumbled across a kit I like and might be a good first MFH for me. It's a Gurney-Westlake Eagle TIG and I found it at  Upscale Hobbies but I can't find it on MFH site or Hiroboy at all. Any input on that? I don't recall ordering from Upscale Hobbies before, either.

Since I have bought more MFH kits than anyone here, I should add my input. I have used a number of suppliers for my kits, but the best experience and price has been from MFH direct. When you go to the MFH website you can just have it translated to english. Hiroboy is just another supplier like Upscale or Spotmodel etc.

As for that kit, the Gurney Eagle, it is an excellent kit and they still show it in stock. If you need any guidance when building it, don't hesitate to ask me questions.

Thanks so much. I have not been sure if Hiroboy was just a supplier or there was a relationship. Now I know. And thanks for the link! Perfect, I couldn't find it myself.

I realized after I posted this question that your beautiful build of this kit is this month's model of the month. Perhaps it was a subliminal thing that started me searching for one, or maybe it wasn't subliminal at all and that is exactly what happened and forgetting is just another senior moment.

At any rate, congrats on a superb MOtM, and thanks again for your input, Paul. (please keep those WIP threads coming, btw) And great to know I can reach out to you with questions!!!

Looks like Paul has you all set up there!! He’s the MFH man! I have only dabbled in a couple purchases and haven’t cracked into one yet. But dealing directly with model factory Hiro was a breeze both times!! Lovely company. Also, if upscale hobbies ever has anything you want you can feel safe ordering from them. They are a legit brick and mortar hobby shop here in Indiana. I’ve ordered from them a couple times when they’ve had sales and they’ve shipped quickly and with no issues.

I just looked up Upscale Hobbies location. Had never noticed they are in IN. I wonder how many times I have driven right past them driving up or down 65? Incidentally, have been meaning to ask, where in IN are you? Apologies if I already asked (or if I ask again), bad memory. I recently left the South Bend / Mishawaka area up north after having lived there my whole life.

Greg, I don’t believe you asked. I am just outside of Shelbyville, IN. 30 miles SE of Indianapolis. I’ve been up north to south bend/mishawaka several times for work!!

yes! Indeed the eastern route is the only way to go to Florida from here. Although I’m sure some folks go across to I-65 and down. And thanks, I like living here and it’s good to know you as well!! I know Indiana has its issues, to be sure, but what state doesn’t? At any rate the cost of living is reasonable which means more models I can build. lol! And here in rural Indiana we’re pretty much left to our own devices due to the lack of other people.

I called IN home for 68 yrs! I'll never utter a negative thing about it, except maybe that the winters are brutal up by the N state line where I lived. You are spared the lake effect snows where you are.

As a follow up for anyone who might be in the same boat as I was, ordering your first MFH kit, ordering from MFH directly was everything Paul and Kyle said it would be. Fast (I had my kit in 7 days, and it was ordered on a Fri nite), good order confirmation/shipping and tracking and due to an email I sent the company about shipping address change, even got an email from Mr Hiro assuring me they had the correct address.
