Excellent work pushing through the issue my friend. The nose looks just as it should. And I like how you’ve left the pipe on the side blank. Looks just right. Kyle, I really surprised myself at how well that nose decal came out. It's actually 4 decals counting the numbers. As for the just white on the pipe, I lucked out, as I'm sure that aligning the covered sections of the number would have been a real challenge for me. I had the number section from the Indy Cal sheet so at least that wouldn't have been an issue. joel

Just ask my wife, i usually have way more then just the run of the mill Hissy fit. She always manages to ask me why I bother modeling as it seems that almost every week brings another crisis .....I had just one exchange like this with my wife (v2) several yrs back, this one about golf. I gave some thought to what she said because she was right, I came home made every time and ruined the rest of the day for both of us. Made so much sense to me I've not played since. That was maybe 5 yrs ago, maybe a little more. Had been playing since I was a kid, awful at it and kept getting worse. She didn't say it to make me quit at all, it just made me think is all. But DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT show this to your wife OR give up modeling!!!!!! I'm not saying I'm a good modeler, but I'm sure better at it than golf (which isn't saying much but true, nonetheless)!!!! I laughed out loud at your comment about conversations with invisible friends in the modeling room, BTW.Finally, sorry, still struggling manipulating quoted replies. All these reply balloons are unintentional. They will not stop. And thanks for the info on the rear wings. Please excuse the bad formatting of this reply. Sigh....

Greg, No problem. I still have issues from time to time using the quote feature. Biggest issue is putting the cursor in the quote box for something and then you can't get it out. When that happens just delete the post and start again.
I also had a love/hate relationship with golf. Needless to say it ended in a ugly divorce. How can it be so hard to hit a cute white ball that's not moving with any club you have, and you can take your time and practice swings no less.
As for giving up modeling or my Model Railroad, I do that all the time when the going gets tough. Of course the next day I'm always back at the bench.

One more thing to figure out then it's full speed ahead in the quote dept.
On all the rest, it all hits home (and makes me smile). I haven't threatened to give up modeling yet, but I sure did with golf.....a lot!
And a model railroader as well? We'll have to compare notes on that some day. My short version is I'm a model railroader wanna-be with an unjustifiable lot of stuff and no layout to run it on. And now being a basement-less FL person, no hope of ever having one.

Greg, Florida with no basement? No sweat. build your model railroad layout in the lanai!! I’m sure your wife will be all on board with that!! 😂 On a more serious note I was glad to help with the quote issue, I’ll admit my cursor has been stuck in someone else’s reply a time or two so no worries at all

Greg, I have a half basement, so it's 3 rooms: Boiler room about 10 x 10, a large storage/laundy room, and the main room which measures 12 x 20, and that's the Model RR room. But I can only go 4 ft wide on the boiler room side and 8 1/2 ft wide on the other side so there's a 4 foot walkway. No big deal as the TIB (Toledo Industrial Branch line) is a semi prototypical operations MRR; Point to Point so there's no way to run a train in circles (which I never understood).
Even if you don't have a basement, unused bedroom/guestroom, any place you can hang a shelf lets say 18 inches wide and a min of 6 ft to lets say 10-12 ft max, you've got room for a N scale or HO layout.

Joel, I'll be sure to pass your train layout on the lanai idea off the boss, I'll let you know how that goes.
Paul, you're right. My life-long problem is dreaming of the basement empire, way beyond my ability, and end up with paralysis by analysis. An oversized layout point to point would at least let me run and listen to the equipment, and have something to entertain the grand kids for 15 seconds.
If the HO stuff had some value, I'd switch to N (even though I can barely see it), but it's too expensive to start from scratch at this point!
Thank you for the dose of reality.
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming, Paul's Lotus WIP!
Edit: Sorry, I got all mixed up. I meant Joel's Lotus build, and I probably got the comments to both of you backwards, too. It's been one of those days.....

Greg, If space is the final frontier, there's always the option of putting up the shelf MRR directly over your modeling workbench. Plenty of guys I've seen vids of have it that way.
Believe me, once I came to the realization that a huge layout for basically a single builder/operator is way to expensive, takes up more time then I would have even being retired, and I'm sure that sooner then later it would have felt like a 2nd job.
Now, I'm into my 3rd year, and the MRR has all the track down, wiring and DCC up and running, all the industrial buildings done, 75% of the basic ground scenery done, and a realistic operating schedule. All that was done in the 1st year when I gave up plastic modeling. Now I do both on basically an alternating weekly schedule. Bonus is that I have portable heat down stairs, and the house has Central Air so the basement isn't a hot box in the summer. Next summer my plan is to install a 5000 btu A/C unit and only run it when I'm down stairs.
Negotiations took quite some time, and it didn't come exactly cheap.

Sounds like a great setup! 12x20 seems so huge to me now. You'll love the central air down there for sure.
I'd have liked to have been a mouse, snooping on those negotiations.

As usual it's been a while between updates, but even being retired life just keeps on getting in the way these days. I've managed to Clearcoat all the body panels and pipes with Tamiya LP -9 thinned 1:1 with Mr. Leveler #400. I gave it a good 4 days to fully cure then I lightly wet sanded it with 6,000, 8000, 10,000, & finally 12,000. Followed by the Novus liquid polishing system but only use steps 2 for fine scratches and then step 1 for clean & Shine. I mostly leave the waxing for the end of the build. Here;s a picture of the parts waiting for installation. joel

Color looks GREAT Joel and it looks like you've got your system down pat bud. I hear you on life getting in the way of progress in modeling as I sure wish I had a wee bit more bench time than I do.

Joseph, I wouldn't mind it so much is the getting in the way was just normal stuff, but it's all medical issues for both my wife and myself. Truly getting old really sucks these days. My cell calendar looks like a medical booking system of late. Glad that you like how the paint/color is coming along. It's a great change of pace from my usual if it's British from the 1960's then it's gotta be BRG. joel

Ever wonder why it's green, makes no sense for England, right?
In the early days, it was illegal in England to drive a car over 10mph (something like that). So everybody went to Ireland to race (the Irish were all in favour of it). So it's BRG, in honour of ........ Ireland.

Greg, I'm surprised that you didn't hear the negotiations no matter how far you live from me. Believe me, it was as intense as it gets. I'm surprised that I actually won. well, I originally as in labor disputes asked for way more room including stagging yards in both the boiler room and the laundry/storage room plus an additional 16 ft just leaving a 4 ft walkway. Of course I never intended for any of that as just the cost of lumber if you could even find what you needed back then was astronomical. But the fact that since it's just the two of us, and she can't negotiate steps after her hip replacement, I knew I'd eventually win as the never used family room would eventually go into my column. But now that so much of the MRR is done, I'm once again thinking of that final 16 ft expansion. Well, I can dream can't I. joel

Kyle, Glad you like how the clear coat and polishing came out. Been working on getting the body panels actually glued up to the chassis which is proving to be quite a challenge as there's a few fit issues that I missed in prior test fitting, as Ebbro used a rather odd method of attaching the bulkheads where they use a tab on one side only. I missed aligned them and didn't catch the issue till after gluing them up. Fortunately, I was able to pop them off and try again. The Tabs do show in the instructions but the angle they used to draw the assemblies makes seeing them iffy at best. joel

I struggle with the angles manufacturers draw instructions sometimes as well. Just have to hold my tongue out at just the right angle. 😂 I know you’ll get it knocked out and looking good.
