Hello Everyone, I just started construction on this Tamiya Honda RA 272. All the pics currently included are pre paint. The engine came together nicely, I have hollowed the exhaust tips and prepped the body by sanding the mold lines. more pics will be on the way as i progress. let me know your thoughts.

That's a great kit - one of my favorites. Nice start and do join the open wheel group build. James (Project510) is building the same kit.

excellent start to the Tamiya Honda RA272 kit. Looking forward to following your build through completion.
All of us are currently building open wheel cars in the Group Build, and the more, the better for sure.

fuel ine retainers i made put in some bench time today. drilled the fuel injector and throttle body to fit the fishing line i planned to use for fuel lines. trouble is i did not account for paint. kids were laughing at me as i was wearing two reading glasses trying to thread the line into the holes. one of the pics should show the polystyrene fuel line retainers i made. i don't know if i am gonna use them. cheers

I'm willing to bet that nearly all of us have made the mistake of it doesn't fit now that I painted it. As for me, I've made it dozens of times and just can't remember to plan for it when I need to.
The fuel line brackets look great. I see no reason not to use them unless there's a fitment issue or they require more space then you thought they would.
OK, now for the big issue from your post, the wearing of two pairs of reading glasses. I've tried over and over again to accomplish that as seeing close and clearly or just seeing ok is a major issue. I've never found a combination what works. I do use a Optivisor at times, and even a hand held magnifying glass when I need to see small objects or read pop up boxes on the computer screen. And of course you need to post a picture as well.

Good progress on the fuel line retainers and the engine as a whole Mark ( bronco67). That's funny about the 2 sets of reading glasses to get the lines in the holes. lol I resemble that remark!

Engine looks great! I have to use cheaters (reading glasses) along with my contact lenses just to use the computer much less bench work

Oh man, very cool. Also, I was happy to read the part about the double glasses. I had to double up as well and thought, man this cant be good. Is my vission getting this bad? Looks like either we are both in trouble, or the parts are jsut to damn small!

You're doing an excellent job on this, Mark. fuel ine retainers i made put in some bench time today. drilled the fuel injector and throttle body to fit the fishing line i planned to use for fuel lines. trouble is i did not account for paint. kids were laughing at me as i was wearing two reading glasses trying to thread the line into the holes. one of the pics should show the polystyrene fuel line retainers i made. i don't know if i am gonna use them. cheers I've used fishing line in the past, But have found it to be too stiff. Now I use the tubing from fishing lures.

So right about the fishing lines too stiff. as an avid offshore fisherman, i should have remembered the lines are designed to disappear in water. well when i was wrestling with the lines on my green cutting mat they practically disappeared.

I gotta admit that those fuel lines look fantastic. Think I'll head on over this week to Dicks sporting goods and see if they have those lure lines. If not then I'll try to order them from Bass Pro Shops.
