My apologies, I'm new here and try as I might, I cannot seem to edit out the duplicate images. It's all good rlhart. I've got you man. While I'm taking care of your post, it'd be cool if you introduced yourself by posting up an introductory post in the Introduce Yourself section so everyone can get to know you a little better. BTW......that's one heckuva good lookin' Zeppelin. Some good paint and weathering work on this along with a classy base to display it all on. Beautiful work brother. I think I recognize your screen name from other places. I have also gone by mustang1989 elsewhere so you might have seen me around as well. What's your first name?

My given name is Rob Hart. Paul Cadwell (I hope that I spelled his last name correctly) recommended this site.

Judging by that Zeppelin that you posted up, I'd say that we're all in for a pleasant surprise in seeing future WIP's and finished work from you. Welcome aboard bud.

That looks really really cool. I love the paint and weathering work. Cool idea about mounting it on a map. What is the significance of the map? Is that showing the route it took?
Lastly, welcome!

The map's only significance is that they were current when the Zeppelin was in service. The subject of the model, Zeppelin L23, flew 51 reconnaissance missions and three bombing missions over England. It was shot down on August 21,1917 by a Sopwith Pup flown by Bernard A Smart. The Pup had been launched from a platform mounted on the main gun turret of the light cruiser, HMS Yarmouth.

Wonderfully detailed! It comes off as a much larger scale. I really like the weathered finish you put on this!

I have had future plans to build a Sopwith on a turret ever since I saw a picture in a book several years ago. There are loads of reference pics out there. Yarmouth Repulse Sydney

How did they recover/land the Sopwith?

How did they recover/land the Sopwith? They didn't. It either flew back to land or diched near the ship to recover the pilot. They used the same method from cargo ships early in WW2.
