Sunward Hobbies (my supplier) posted this on their website
"There is a restriction on the import of Tamiya TS, AS, PS, and primer spray products into Canada. No ETA when this will be resolved and we will receive more stock. What is in stock is all we are getting. No More."
Now what?

For primer I have used CTC rattle can auto primer for years. Always found it far better and more cost effective than Tamiya anyway. Never really used the other rattle cans anyway so that won't impact me personally. There are not many colours you can't get in Dupli-Color paint.

Mr.color spray cans are the same thing and sunward carries those. there’s also duplicolor at canadian tire but they are like 20 bucks a can
best thing is buy an airbrush plenty of cheap ones out now that work great. i haven’t used a spray can in decades

Unless Tamiya changes their formula, it likely won’t get resolved. Apparently some of the ingredients in the Tamiya rattle cans is verboten in Canada. Unless Tamiya does enough business in Canada to justify the cost of reformulating their spray paint, it not gonna happen.

Tamiya makes a colour range to suit specific car models. Hit and miss if you can find a generic brand that comes close.
As to an airbrush, no intentions of ever using one. Hate the things, royal pain in the rear for no real benefit. No offence intended to those who do.

Next they'll be banning model kits because they're single use plastics.

duplicolor literally makes paint for specific cars models.. and it’s the same paint as tamiya which is an acrylic lacquer.

Tamiya, as in "racing white" for the Hondas, "French Blue", etc. I build racing cars, not American hot rods (well, sometimes, but not often). I do use other paints when necessary but it becomes complicated when applying clear coats that may or may not react with what's under them.
An example is Mr Color clear, which will dissolve anything water based, including decals. Expensive mistake to make.

Man, Paul. That sure is a pain. The Tamiya spray line sure has some handy colors for race cars that I would very much miss myself.

The Mr Color paint in spray can is quite good, but very limited in colour selection for a car builder. It's excellent if you build model aircraft. It's one of the problems with the hobby, everything is oriented to the military market. That's why Tamiya will be such a loss.
