Hi everyone,
So as you guys might have noticed, I like building the stranger things So after a bit of research, I found the perfect livery for my Fortress 👀 She'll become B-17 42-3441, an assembly ship in the 384th Bomb Group for the 547th Bomb Squadron.
On a little side-note: She was the longest-serving B-17F in the Group, and last B-17F in Group to fly a combat mission (7 June 1944).
So as you might have seen in the main GB thread, I'm using an HKM 1:48 B-17F and adding a lot of goodies: - SBS Model B-17F Engines & nacelle cowlings - Eduard B-17 wheels cross tread - Eduard B-17F bronze undercarriage legs - Eduard B-17F guns - Eduard B-17F Superchargers - Eduard B-17F radio compartment 3D decals - Eduard B-17F cockpit 3D decals - Eduard B-17F bombsight - Eduard B-17F masks - Eduard B-17F ammo feed chutes - Eduard B-17F nose interior - Eduard B-17F waist section - Eduard B-17F wooden floors & ammo boxes - Kits-World B-17 Seat Cushion set - DN Models The Spotted Cow B-17F Flying Fortress Assembly Ship Camo And Insignia Paint Mask Set
- Art Scale Kit B-17 Bomb Bay Doors
So I'll be taking my time with this one, I don't think I've ever build a model with this much extras 😋😬

Bookmarked! I've been hoping to see an HK B-17 built with lots of added extra detail. I'm looking forward to seeing this one come together.

Not only do I love this idea, I’ve never seen the Spotted Cow built! Definitely along for the ride 🍾

So I had a little time after work and was able to do some work on the Fortress (I'll be referring to her as the cow from now on ) I used a reverse pre-shading technique with one colour on these parts, and I'll be using this technique on all interior parts. So how did I do this: First of all I sprayed a nice coat of primer (Mr. Finishing Surfacer 1500 Black I my case), then I paint the center and flat surfaces with a lot of paint, once dry I cover the rest with a light coat of the same colour (Vallejo 71.094 green zinc chromate). Using this technique, I easily got some depth in my paint jobs .
With a bit of luck, I can start painting the details with a brush this weekend

Great start! Many forums have the same amount of debates about interior color of the B-17 as the RLM color of a BF109. When I built mine years back I do recall doing the cockpit in Model Master Interior Green as it's a little darker shade than the chromate color. Some do the fuselage interior aluminum and some do the chromate. I think it looks great either way. I'm looking forward to seeing you detail the interior out!!

I whole heartedly agree with that there isn't a strict standard to the interior colors. I always though it was a nonsense argument people made about it..

Hi everyone, I finally got back home after working 2weeks away from home, and I'll have to be doing it again for the next few weeks. November & December are the busiest time of the year for the company I work at. So I probably won't be able to work or do very little on the cow With other words, I'm giving a heads up for not being around for the next few weeks, but I'll try to do what I can and post a little update when I can... I was able to do some weathering on the interior today

I thought I’d commented here already but I must have just done so in my mind. So, my apologies for the late arrival. I am always in for a B-17 build. Love the paint scheme you’re going with and some great extras. Off to a wonderful start too!!
