In Australia it's known as Remembrance Day or Armistice Day. I attended a service at my local RSL and met two U.S. veterans. Thank you to all who served. At the going down of the sun And in the morning, We will remember them. Lest We Forget. Rob Ferguson Royal Australian Navy

They changed it from Armistice Day back in the '30s. Unlike the U.S. that has Memorial Day for those that died, Veterans Day for all those that served and Armed Forces day for those in active service. We Commonwealth countries roll them all up into one. I used to attend ceremonies every year but just can bring myself to anymore as it just depresses me to see all my old comrades as old and often decrepit men and women. Most of the people in this pic that are still with us (me rear second from left) Are in this picture from 8 years ago (me in center) And again this summer there are even fewer of us left (my butt far right) Sorry! I can get a little maudlin on Remembrance day.

Never served myself but know some who have and am course very conscious of the sacrifice. So thank you to all that have and those that paid the ultimate sacrifice. To quote the words of Kohima Epitaph on the memorial of the 2nd British Division in the cemetery of Kohima (North-East India): "When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say,For Your Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today."ATB Andrew support.britishlegion.org.uk/app/answers/detail/a_id/155/~/kohima-epitaph-and-the-exhortation

I can get a little maudlin on Remembrance day. I feel with you. Most of my friends from that time frame are still with us, but the ones who aren't still hurt. Those were the glory days! But it's good to see so many with grey hair, or no hair (me) still with us. That photo makes me think its time for another squadron reunion.

That photo makes me think its time for another squadron reunion. This group was the reserve unit that I joined at 17 before I went regular at 18 so we were all local and can still keep in touch. In fact half of them are married to each other to this day. As my regular time was very transient I never really kept in touch with many in the later years.

I know how you feel Tcoat. It's a day of mixed feelings and for me ANZAC Day is harder still, but there is also joy in the camaraderie and the bond of brotherhood.
