Hi guys. As I said, I'm going to start a destroyed T-34, using AFV Club kit 35S57, so I have some questions:
1) All variants used the same engine? (Diesel V2)
2) When a T-34 suffer major damage, it down due to suspension breakage (like Panthers, Tigers, etc)?
3) The one million bucks question: soviets use primer paint under final colors?
Thanks
Darío

I think the later T-34 might have had a diff trans but the same motor.
Major damage will depend what happened. Motor area fire, land mine. Free play when it comes to this area.
yes, primer was a green primer. The same paint as the camo paint. The tanks received two coats of the green. This is what I was able to dig up.
I'm doing a wrecked T-34 too. Will be cool to see yours being blogged as well.

Hi Dario- now that I more completely understand what you are going for. 1) All variants used the same engine? (Diesel V2)The V2 will work in your wreck. Relatively few early tanks from the 112 factory had the same engine used in the BT-7 and T-28 tanks. A gasoline copy of a BMW powerplant. M-17T Here: en.valka.cz/viewtopic.php/t/104346But that is a rare bird- a couple hundred out of 50+ thousand T-34's. 2) When a T-34 suffer major damage, it down due to suspension breakage (like Panthers, Tiger...Yes- T-34 suspension would sag in the heat of a fire. I just did a Korean T-34/85 wreck and I set the hull of the tank flat on the base and adjusted the suspension for that height. 3) The one million bucks question: soviets use primer paint under final colors?Like Rob said- you will not find big sections of Red Primer beneath the Russian Green. Raw steel- Yes. Can't wait to see some forward motion Dario! Steve
