well I'm still on vacation, sort of. Was sitting on the patio with the inlaws and saw the moon was up, so out came the scope and a cheap point and shoot camera. The moon looked great through the new scope and the pics aren't too bad I think. Enjoying the time off showing the in laws around, eating and drinking beer ;D. Will hit the bench when they are gone, can't wait.

Sweet looking shots there Rob, sounds like the vacation and scope time are paying dividends. The 2nd one in particular shows some very nice crater detail...just count the number of impacts in that small zone!

Thanks fellas. Gonna have some rain today so will be hanging out at home.
Richard, nice image my friend. You guys have some great views down there.
As for how the image was taken, I simply held the p&s camera to the eyepiece of the scope. Of course with a DSLR that mounts directly to the focuser would be even better.

Beautiful shots bud! My son had a small scope and we used to check out to stars and moon once and awhile! Always wonder if we'll go back?

That sucks Spud. I figured you would have taken some great images with your set up. Doc , cool bro. I didn't know you had a scope. It will be some time until I get a DSLR. But I might end up getting a Mak-Cass later on. Mark it takes some time to get a good pic, I had lots of duds I had to delete but it can work. Here are a couple of other pics. Before it got dark. With a 12mm ( 25mm and 2x Barlow) I didn't get a chance to take the scope out the last couple days, blue moon and all. I did take the finder scope off and took a peak last night but it was way too bright. Need to buy a 13% filter.

nice pics rob, the longest lens of have is only 70-200 the moon was nice and big last night but still not close enough top get a nice big one. its not an easy subject to grab, and this was the best one i got, you can see its a bit blurry and that is because of vibrations. most likely to do with the ocean waves coming in

Mark when you see the sun coming up or going down, look for bright stars nearby...that's Mercury and Venus.
Nice shot Spud. With the scope it's harder to get the pics because the earth and moon are moving, and you can really see how fast things move when viewing through a scope. By the time I got the camera set and pointing through the EP the moon had moved.

yea i could see that too rob although it wasn't that fast but over time you would need to reposition the camera
